Where does Wanderlei rank at 205?

They've both had good resumes. Chuck...Tito 2x, Couture 2x, Wanderlei, Vitor, Overeem, Mezger, Sobral 2x, Randleman......pretty solid 11 wins. Rampage.....Hendo, Arona, Wand, Chuck 2x, Randleman, Igor, Machida, Jardine, Ninja also 10 solod wins. I do like Rampages resume better, he does have the better top wins, but Chuck was a long time champ with 4 title d's. I could really go either way on these guys.

Yeah honestly all the top guys from that era have some impressive resumes. I give less credibility to Chuck's reign because the real lhw belt was in pride imo. I can understand why people rate Chuck so highly though,

Nowhere, real 205ers would wreck him. Always, even in his prime. Him, Vitor and Hendo are middleweights

He has more Top 10 wins than Jones, Liddell & Rampage.

Only Henderson has more.

Likely true to some degree but he did still have excellent runs, I think Rampage beats him in overall quality of wins but again never really had a prolonged spell with an argument to be the #1.

Neither did Chuck. The UFC HW/LHW divisions were the equivalent of Bellator when Chuck was champ. He was essentially Hector Lombard with a mohawk.

Number fucking one. Dominating the juice leagues >>>>>> any UFC accomplishment.

Come at me bro

i'm seeing some fucking stupid answers in this thread.

Let's assume you still hold Jones in status despite two drug test failures, Shogun is number 2, Wanderlei is number 3. There is nobody that comes close to Wanderlei at number 3 as Rampage is number 4 and he's not even close son.

Top 10 but not top 5. Shogun and Liddell have him beat from that era's guard. I think I would put him at 7 or 8. Guys like Gus, Rumble, and Hendo definitely throw some curveballs into the rankings. Then again I guess even chuck could be a question mark based on where you thought his and Wands careers were at when they fought

Liddell fought in a B League of 205, he washed the fuck out of PRIDE's division. He lost to the guy who's most notable contribution in PRIDE was losing to Wanderlei. Liddell isn't even better than Rampage all time

Yes way. Hendo did a LOT more than Wand. Including knocking him out for his belt and beating the two best hws of all time

Dan Henderson is absolutely not over Wanderlei at LHW, his greatest feature is that he has top wins in 3 weight classes but the issue arises where he has his career split across 3 weight classes so he's not ranked in any of them except maybe middleweight because middleweight is a historyless division. Henderson, all time, ranks higher than Wanderlei in terms of all divisions, but purely LHW, absolutely not. There's not a discussion for it.

I rank wanderlei below rampage.

rampage was detroyed 2x by wanderlei but rampage peak of career had better win over other fighters. he beat chuck 2x and chuck beat wanderlei with some ease. Rampage also beat up hendo, rampage also would of had a good chance against Vitor if only for his size and strength. The same Vitor who is better striker than hendo and KO him 2x.

If your going to put two victories over chuck in the “height” of rampages career than you must also put he brutal losses to wanderlei in the same category.

Also wand dropped chuck twice and forced chuck to shoot to secure rounds. I wouldn’t call that an easy win.

Someone with some sense in this thread. It's pretty easy to rank these guys

he dropped chuck 1x when he move backwards, the other time was a slip. Wanderlei by end was gassing or gassed, cut, and could not stop takedown. if 5 rounds chuck would of maybe finish him.

I don’t dispute chuck won without a doubt but it wasn’t a blow out. Wanderlei has always had sub par TDD

it is so hard to say because based on style wanderlei should be above Hendo and they both got owned by Vitor. so weird

prime Vitor is above hendo and shogun but manage to have that 1 decision loss at a shit point his career to chuck. chuck beat wanderlei when both out of prime. Rampage whooped hendo though

Hendo beat Vitor in dominate fashion, they didn't fight again until Hendo was 40... doesn't count.

lol Hendo was 36 when he beat Vitor then lost at 43 after he was juiced to max and on a years dominate streak.

vitor was 29 and in worst part of his career mentally and career wise. after his sister death and other shit he dealt with.

No..but it was his first fight back from being knocked out by mirko crocop. Probably smarter to take time off or an easier fight
I believe there is an interview with Bas Rutten where he talks about how sick Wanderlei was the day before the Henderson II fight.

its crazy he also slugged it out with cro cop 2x and hunt. dude was a maniac. shogun, liddell, etc. wouldnt have done as well imo

Where do you rank Wanderlei Silva at 205 all time? Who was better at their prime?
top 3 IMO.

JJ, him and Chuck.
I have JJ at #1, but Wandi & Chuck are about tied IMO.

theirs cases for him, shogun, hendo, chuck, and rampage behind jones imo. dc up there too but his reign at LHW has been short

How anyone can have Chuck over Rampage is beyond me. Not only does he have 2 wins over Chuck, but he's beaten way better fighters.

Chuck had a "dominant" run because he didn't fight in PRIDE.

Agree 100%. Pride Wand, Shogun, Rampage and Arona all straight whoop that ass. If Chuck had made it to Wand in that GP, the Iceman would have gotten pole-axed.
