Obamacare has great for the insurance companies. Check out their stock curves since March 2010.

Misstated how? I've had two broken ankles, collarbone, and a dislocated elbow (all different occasions) and not once would a cheap plan cover my costs with the premium added in, nor would a good plan's yearly prwmiums be less than paying out of pocket.
For the purpose of healthcare,the current deductibles and premiums are without a doubt making insurance almost useless.

Americans already pay enough taxes to easily afford universal healthcare without anyone having to contribute more. It's not like you pay less than countries which already have it. If US military spending wasn't so ridiculously off the scale it could easily be done.

Unfortunately US politics is still kinda stuck in the cold war, and anyone suggesting spending a couple of hundred billion on hospitals instead of bombs would get branded a socialist who's weak on defense.

It's honestly hard to truly analyze if we are better off before ACA or after. In the small business world, it seems absolutely awful as the costs increased drastically. We quit offering a group plan and just work in either an increase in salary, partial reimbursement, or full reimbursement with employees. It just depends on the numbers. With that said, where would rates be without ACA? They were already climbing before ACA. Our healthcare system has been fucked for a long time.
