When I was younger I couldn't wait to start driving, now that I'm older I hate it

I live a pointless existence in some shitty town you've never heard of and the driving's good bro. Anytime I'm stressed or whatever I go out for a drive
yeah I bet, living in a cramped city with horrible traffic is a bitch, makes driving not fun at all especially with the shitty drivers around.

I could see it being fun along the coast or some midwest area with lots of farm land or scenery and not much traffic.

Driving the scenic route to Las Vegas is nice.

Commuting in a overcrowded shit hole like LA is not exactly what I'd use to describe what "driving" is or it encompasses. Nobody wants to do that, it is miserable.

lol yeah, southern California in general its so bad man, and the drivers are wreckless and rude Ive missed my exit so many times because of traffic and A holes not allowing me to merge and speeding up on me.

The only freeway I like is when driving along the coast to Santa Barbara but I don't drive out that way anymore, I used to drive to Ventura twice a week for work and then Id go to Chumash Casino for fun to gamble on the slots and keno, I love driving in that area beautiful scenery, wine country, and they have nice greenery around.

I like driving but shitty drivers are one of few things that really irritate me. Learn to merge ffs. Also some fuckers need to realize their time isnt more important than everyone elses so dont cut people off. Thats all.

This is my main grip, I actually enjoy driving on the regular street, because I can stop and not have to rush and like looking around at the city and sites while at a red light.

But the freeway man so many shitty drivers, rude, and inconsiderate, they dont know how to merge when entering either and when you try to merge some A hole doesnt let you in.

Also the worse is when you are in the carpool with passengers and some idiot with no passengers goes in the car pool on double yellow lines and you have to hit the brakes.

Driving is fun on your own at your own pace in some forested area or mountain back road. It sucks in a large city though. To many dumbasses and stressful.
Exactly, driving in some country or scenic area on a Sunday when you don't have to get somewhere at a certain time and can just go on a scenic route is fun, but City driving while trying to get to work at 9 am or going back home in crowded traffic, with rude angry drivers is not fun at all highly stressful.

Retirement is great. Don't have to be anywhere at a specific time except for an occasional dentist or doctor appointment.

Driving sucks in LA man. Could be worse though, could be Dallas or DC. I find it annoying but it becomes more pleasurable the further I get out from the city.

It's weird, when I was a teen and in my early 20s I used to love driving and I think I know why because I didn't have to worry about stuff, I worked at Hollywood video near my house, andI was still in school without a worry and just driving around with friends going to the beach, mall, movies etc.

Now years later, I hate it, especially on the freeway, bad drivers merging long commutes, traffic, having to get gas daily and some crack heads or gang bangers loitering around while I get gas at this cheap gas station near LA.

I thought about this just the other day stuck in traffic for an hour, I looked around at the other drivers and they all looked miserable, like zombies, you can tell they hated driving the long commute and freeway as well.

I can definitely relate living in an urban area with lots of shitty drivers. Driving is really a chore now. Growing up though, there was freedom in being able to drive. It connected you to friends (as you said), and it allowed you to go places you otherwise could not go.

Man that freedom was the most awesome feeling, its hard to describe I remember being 19 still living at home, not having to worry about any bills and getting my first car my folks helped me with the payments, and just driving around the city going to the mall, taking my girlfriend everywhere, I remember we would go to DTLA and adventure around the city and eat in lil Tokyo even though it had a lot of traffic and horrible to drive we had fun, acting crazy and care free then we would drive on the coast to Santa Barbara, go to the forest to see nature, so many things without a care in the world, I miss those days late teens early 20s.

The best feeling as a kid was Friday no more school for the weekend, you would wake up on Saturday and think you had to go to school only to realize there was no school and you would have a huge smile on your face like a burden was lifted from your shoulders just for that day or two.

I think most people would love to have their youth back. Back then, you had all the time in the world, fewer responsibilities, and being your parents' age seemed so far away.

I feel ya

All I can tell you is keep your fave songs and podcasts handy and just relax in traffic as much as possible. let folks in a hurry pass ya and just try not to think about it much at all. THeres no getting around it just try to make the best of it.

Seems like your body has stopped producing testosterone.

My situation is the exact opposite. Waited forever to learn to drive and now I love it.

I'd hate to think of living my life over again. If I could go back in time with the knowledge I have now, I could invest money and make bets to accrue a fortune.

I would take that deal. Would love to relive my youth.

Driving does get a hella boring, especially long distances. Would hate to have a driving job, especially if it's a lorry or a bus all day/night.

This is why I like driving manual, gives me something to do.

I do the same thing. I bring my weed pen and listen to music. Nice and relaxed. Sun roof open on a nice night. Can't beat going for a drive

I feel ya I have been driving since I was 12 and I hate it I actually enjoy using my bike now or being driven around in an uber or lyft when I go to eat and drink.

I live in a town like that, and I do the same thing. If I lived in a city, I doubt it would be the same . I don't even think city people can drive around and get stoned.
