What's a good free audio/equalizer program?

I'm talking about something that can isolate background noises or tune out background noises on audio clips. I saw some program on one of those Laurel/Yanny videos and I looked it up but it isn't free. I'm looking for a free download. I want to dissect that laurel/yanny clip for myself and play around with it.

Any recommendations?


I have VLC media player right now and it has a pretty good equalizer. But surely there are better ones out there.
