Yes but I always locked the window back behind me so no one else could stalk you. Don't worry.

In my younger years I loved Dr. Suess If I Ran A Zoo being one of my favs. Also Berenstein Bears, loved the specials on TV too.

Older I liked Most mentioned in here as well as The Hardy Boys mysteries.

When I was 12 I read Something Wicked this Way Comes and became a life long fan of scary, macabre. I started reading Dean Koontz and Stephen King at 13-14.

My favorite book I had to read for school was To Kill a Mockingbird. Still love it.

Hell yeah.
White Fang too.
Lad A Dog by Albert Payson Terhune was a great dog book also.

Oliver Twist, Treasure Island, Tom Sawyer, Huckleberry Finn.
Greg Matthew's wrote The Further Adventures of Huckleberry Finn which I thought captured Twains tone really well.

LOTR might have been my favorite though.

read watership down at like 12, and loved it. Still one of my top books. Haven't read it in a while...

Depends on how far back you go, but two that come to to mind are "The Outsiders" (older) and "The wonderful flight to the Mushroom Planet" (younger). I really dug the "Encyclopedia Brown" series too. :)
Cool! I read those too.

I also liked those choose your own adventure books. If I had to choose, I say I remember Deadwood City being my favorite, but I liked all of them.

As a really young kid
Rikki Tikki Tavi- that mongoose vs. cobra .... epic shit right there.

As I got older;
Lord of the Flies. I think I secretly wanted my middle school to turn into this as I was @John Wang dominant in grade 7
