What should I eat if I am getting back into fitness after a few years?

I used to work out every day with dumbells, situps, pushups, running, etc, just basic stuff and havent done it for 3 years (except when i went on the dolce diet). I just started again 7 days ago and wondered what you guys think i should eat? I eat like 3 apples a day, a couple salads, lots of yogurt.

I just dont want to overdo myself. The first day I lifted my arms were useless for 3 days straight. I have never gone this long without working out and jumping back in seems pretty brutal so far.
 
Lean meats, veges, nuts, eggs
Dont over do it on dairy or you may feel sluggish and/or bloated
Avoid salt as much as possible (they say your body only needs 2000mg a day) and avoid sugary snacks and drinks.
 
Don't forget plenty of sleep.......
