What is Western Pennsylvania culturally?

Dan Marino, Joe Montana and Jim Kelly were pretty good

Marino is from South Oakland which is right in PGH, Montana is from Washington county which is like 20 or so miles south, and Kelly is from East Brady which is about an hour and a half northeast of the city.

When you pass through East Brady on either side of the town’s main drag, this sign is present.

It’s one of those “if you blink, you’ll miss it” towns, but at least they got something to lay their claim for fame.

Being that I’m a big fan of Robocop, I was gonna see if I could find the locations of the final fight scene at the Steel Mill filmed in Monessen, PA which is about 40 miles south of PGH.

But then I learned all of it was demolished and what’s left pretty much looks like this:

Needless to say, I was kinda bummed out.
