What is the brokest you have ever been?

Keep going brother
In uk if 5 years can't get hold of you they wrote of debt
I've done it once when left school. Owed bank 7 k. Just ignored them and debt free

Cool, dodging debt. That’s not trashy at all.

Lol
We know how to live

Just going to the pub on a nightly basis???

When I lived in China I had a British friend/co-worker and that’s all he ever wanted to do. Get a group and meet for dinner and drinks???....nope. Go have a bbq???....nope. Pub or nothing with that guy.

Downside is credit rating fucked

That’s a pretty big fucking downside. I’m not sure about the UK (but I’d imagine it’s worse there since the Uk is in fact a shithole) but in the USA, there’s lots of jobs you can’t get if you do stuff like that.

Going out is fun but when you do it all the time is it really that fun? I have a hard time getting up for work if I’m out drinking.

Last year I was in debt $176,000. I am working in an attempt to pay this debt off.

How? Student Loans? Gambling Debt? Margin Call on a Shorted Stock?

I have always lived smart and been able to get high paying jobs to get out of trouble fast. I owned my own business for 8 years, 6 being great. But when the economy tanked so did my business and I was barley making enough to cover bills and ran up 5k in card debt. I lost about 40gs holding on to the company an extra year. But I got a crazy job making 250k and they gave me a 15k signing bonus so I was out of debt and in the green immediately. I got laid off after 3 years, but was hired by another company after a week so I actually double dipped my severance.and my new pay. I don’t like the feeling of not having the freedom to do what I want, but the fear of not paying my mortgage was scary. I never missed a payment though.

Had a fiver to survive a week of spring break in college. All my buddies had gone traveling and the cafeteria was closed for the week so I bought 20 packs of cup ramen and carefully rationed them throughout the week. In order to slow my metabolism, I decided to stop any unnecessary physical activity so I would start a day by defecating, showering, and brewing a big pot of tea, followed by staying in bed and reading all day, drinking said tea and having ramen when needed. It worked well enough, would do it again.

Right after divorce for sure. Thankfully met a young lady to cook for me soon after ;)

There have been a couple of times in my life where I have been rich and broke.

Whenever I am broke I:
  • get excited when I come across change.
  • eat less often.
  • eat everything on my plate, even savor the things I don't like.
  • don't have time for BS.
  • tend to appreciate the little things, which makes me more appreciative, and friendlier
  • find more loyal friends
  • often find myself in predicaments that become funny stories
  • get my patience, limits, values, relationships tested.

Being broke offers a lot of valuable life lessons. It can makes you stronger, smarter, and more compassionate. All the things that are needed to prepare yourself for when you are rich.

I was in debt of around $250 because I was a bit careless with money... then I called my parents and I had a positive balance of around $750. It is nice having a quite wealthy/loving family, lol.
