I know Anderson fought at 185 and walked around at about 210-212 pounds. GSP said he went into the cage at about 194 pounds. Conor could just barely make 145 and was 168 against Nate Diaz. And Rumble seemed to be most natural at 205 but was 230 against Arlovski.
So perhaps it's around 20-25 pounds over the weight class? Going down as the weight gets lower? Thus your natural weight to walk around weight would probably be something like this?
Light Heavyweight: 225-230
Middleweight: 210-215
Welterweight: 195-200
Lightweight: 170-175
Featherweight: 160-165?
Bantamweight/Lower: ???
What do you think? Too high, too low?
Good thread but I just want to add that imo Anderson Silva was a really bad example to start out with as he's the type where weight just falls off him in training and gains weight fast when he's not in camp. That's just how his body is.Walk around weight for him in camp is totally different than out of camp.
For example,2 weeks out from,I think it was the 2nd Chael fight,Silva said (I think he actually took a picture on the scale) he was 192 and talked about how easily he sheds his extra weight just by training. Then there's some guys who are close in out of camp weight and in camp weight and those are easier to come up with realistic numbers especially when were talking about how much a guy is cutting when it's crunch time.In wrestling I could always shed and gain weight very easy despite having little fat.
Craziest I have heard of is Travis Wiuff talking about how he's been almost 250 in the cage after hitting 205.
