What is a split-decision draw?

3 judges, 3 different results = Split draw.

Apparently it's a split draw.

Not sure why they called it a split decision draw.

If two judges scored the fight for fighter a and the third scored for fighter b, that'd be a split decision.

If two judges scored the fight for fighter a, and the third scored the fight a draw, it'd be a majority decision.

If two judges scored the fight for a draw, and the third scored it for fighter a, it'd be a majority draw.

If 1 judge scores for a, a second scores for b, and the third scores it a draw, it's a split decision draw.

I was confused when they didn't announce it as a split draw but it sounds like they reached that result.

And if all 3 judges score it a draw then it would be a unanimous decision draw.

It is a "split decision" any time the judges don't agree. It was a "draw" due to the result.

Also remember that the job of the announcer is to keep it exciting. He can't just say "we have a draw". He has to start with saying "split decision" then read out the judges scoring then confirm the result.

Uhh... Golovkin/canelo 1 was a split draw. Have you never watched a fight in your life?

In terms of last night, it's a load of bollox - that's what it is.
Lol
