    NOT involving McG?

The ‘SuperFight’ is now being reported to have done less than 400k, which is insane given that same card would have done double that just 5 years ago.

There is a drastic decline in ppv buys so what fights do you think could hit that million mark TODAY?

I think the following could do it:

    1- Brock vs DC.

    2- Brock vs Bones.

    3- Cyborg vs Ronda.

    4- Gsp vs a Diaz

Ask this same question 5 & 10 years ago and this list would have been at least twice as long.

Brock, Ronda, GSP, Conor can do that.
    Who they fight is irrelevant.

Bisping vs Gsp is reported by every outlet as having done just under 900k. The ONLY source saying otherwise is Dana.

Ah OK. It's still leaps and bounds above all the others, so I considered it in the same group

Totally agree. The current generations are getting more tech savy, everyone is a net wizard and people know what VPNs are, and why would anyone pay 50-100$ when they can just stream it illegally?

So you think it’s more a matter of people find ways around paying for a ppv rather than a fading interest in the sport?

but what do international tv deals have to do with declining ppv buy rates which were always heavily concentrated in the States?

TV is dying. Dan Harmon who makes Rick and Morty said he was fired years ago while working on another show that only got 1.5 in ratings, then Rick and Morty became the #1 show in the country with 1.3 - I might not be remembering the numbers right.

The UFC would probably make more money by getting rid of the PPV format and internet subscriptions and just letting their ads reach however many millions online.

    Interesting.

I seriously hope they DON’T go the ad route. The worst thing about TV is the ads, I don’t want the mood/vibe being interrupted by bullshit while I’m trying to enjoy a show.

ppv system is not dying, do we even remeber last year and Floyd/McGregor?
UFC lacks fighters who can do all these things at once
    - able to fight often (3 times per year)
    - have any relations with the press
    - are confident enough to actually show it, most of them are not confident enough and try to play safe, good guy etc.
    - improving fitighting abilities so can win a lot
    - charismatic enough to get some attention

Most of UFC champions are opposite to this.

Thats why less than 1 year ago connor vs floyd did 4.3 mil ppv buys at a higher asking price to ufcs $65

agree with most of your points but don’t think frequency is much of a factor, just look at Floyd and Brock for example. I’m sure Conor too will be unaffected by his hiatus.

This doesn't bother me as much as it seems to everyone else with all these threads an the UFC is dying stuff but Brock, Connor are the only 2 guys who can sell over 1 mil while GSP averages just under.

Not even Jones vs Cormier could get over a mil (860k) an that was biggest fight the UFC had to offer not involving Connor. So getting over a mil without Connor an Brock involved will never happen til another huge star comes along.

    https://www.tapology.com/search/mma-event-figures/ppv-pay-per-view-buys-buyrate

There's the link to the ppv buy rate in order from most bought. It has every card including 226. 15 cards out of 226 events have done over 1 mil an most of them had Brock, Connor, or Ronda fighting. Ironically, only the 2 losses Ronda had did over a mil.

The 4 cards that didn't involve the big 3 names for casuals were Silva vs Weidman 2, Liddell vs Ortiz 2, Rampage vs Rashad an Griffin vs Evans (not sure why that card did so well but it produced, was UFC 92 with all 5 being ko/tko's). There was also 4 cards that were in the 900k range, Silva vs Sonnen 2, GSP vs Penn 2, GSP vs Diaz an Rousey vs Correia.
