I could never get into the genre much because I can't stand the growling, but Mikael/Opeth is like the one exception where I actually like that shit

I've grown out of the genre quite a bit, extreme metal just doesn't do much for me anymore.

I tried listening to that newer band Jinjer earlier and while the song I heard grew on me after a couple of listens, the distorted vox turned me off almost instantly.

I used to love Melodic Death Metal and there were a few Black and Death Metal bands that I enjoyed as a kid.

But when it comes to Metal these days, I find the Melodic variety is what catches my interest.

Clean singing with a more uplifting sound.
