This stuck out to me as well.

This statement is from the write up within the WaPo mpiece:

“It’s ‘not reflective of who I am’ — it’s that kind of response to this stuff that pisses me off,” Oliver said. “It is reflective of who you were. If you’ve given no evidence to show it didn’t [happen] then there was a period of time for a while when you were a creeper around women. It feels like a cop-out to say ‘It wasn’t me.’ Do you understand how that feels like a dismissal?”

How can someone produce evidence that something didn't happen?

Me: "I didn't have oatmeal for breakfast this morning."
Him: "If you've given no evidence that you didn't eat oatmeal for breakfast this morning, then I can state you did have oatmeal for breakfast this morning."

The best part? Oliver himself has criticized people on his own show before for making exactly the same outlandish demands to prove a negative, describing it as "an impossible standard":

Granted, it was a well-deserved shot at an idiot politician who was trying to push the bullshit argument that vaccines cause autism, but still...

I saw an old comedy special of his on television a few years ago. I consider him an anti-American liberal propagandist, but I figured I'd give him a shot, maybe open my mind.

This is the first bit that I saw him perform:

"Okay. We're going to do a little math problem (He has a big chalkboard behind him [because he's a hack]).

Kenya has 3 apples. America wants 3 apples. How many apples does Kenya have? It's multiple choice.

    Choice A: 0 APPLES!

(PAUSE) And that's it's for the choices."

The crowd erupted with- not laughter- but that political "WHOOOOOAAAAA"

I turned off the television and never gave him another shot.
