Washington Post Retracts Article Calling Other Sites 'Russian Propaganda' and 'Fake News'

Retractions are a normal occurence in legit news, happening almost every day.

From a strategic point of view, if you're the democrats and people are digging out very damaging information about your practises, spinning it by blaming it on a unpopular foreign power like Russia is an excellent deflection. Probably didn't fool as many people as they would have liked though.
