Yes. Just a bunch of repetitive catch phrases and moves.

Full on shoot when Hogan called him, "flavor of the month" before their Wrestlemania match. The audience let Dwayne-o know whats up.

No. He didn't need to mutilate himself. And this is a better match than most "great workers" ever had.

Absolutely not. The best mic guy EVER, great look, good worker (especially for his time). Put a lot of guys over. He's arguably the GOAT.

I don't see how any of that makes him overrated. The name of this game is drawing money isn't it? If he gets more reaction by raising his eyebrow than other guys get for jumping off a ladder through a burning table, how does that make him overrated? Are the fans wrong??

So because Rock didn't take giant bumps, he's overrated?

He's walking around comfortably and never needed any major surgeries to fix wear and tear.

I'd rather be overrated if that's the criteria.

Overrated? Now that's hard to say unless there's a clear definition. Rock's only knock is that he only spend a legit 3-4 years a full time, top level, main-event draw. His peak was sky high but very short and during the same time, he was eclipsed by SCSA. No one has ever said the Rock has the largest moveset nor the highest workrate. But he was solid in the ring but his charisma and electric energy captivated the audience like few others and that helped put his work, his moves over big time.

With that said, it's extremely hard to call Rock overrated by any stretch of the imagination, very much like Hogan as few, if any, are saying the Rock is the best in-ring wrestler of all time. As an overall wrestler, total package of a wrestler, he's pretty much as good as it gets.

Was The Rock overrated because he took less bumps than his opponents? That's the question here yes?

OP, there are other gears besides full retard. Maybe think of downshifting?

The Rock had great charisma. For a guy that had an extremely shitty moves list he sure knew how to make each one pop spectacularly. The guy made an elbow drop into a spectacle. Not a top rope elbow drop, or an elbow drop through the announcer's table, just a bounce off the ropes elbow drop. So if he could do that, why get pushed off a cage or dive off very high ladders?

He also should have had his first WM main event moment at WM 2000. Triple H sucks!

He was great when he wasn't selling. His selling was laughable.

Intentionally. Apparently, he and Austin bet a case on how over the top he could be with it.

Have you ever thought of using your own thoughts, provided you have any, instead of just stringing cliches together to make a post?

Regarding the question of was The Rock overrated, it wasn't just because he took less bumps than most of his opponents, but the degree to which his opponents usually had to take more punishment than he did to make the match memorable. A wrestler such as The Rock who is squeamish about taking punishment presents a burden to his opponents because he doesn't do his fair share of the truly physically demanding work.

On a different but somewhat related note, Mick Foley wrote in one of his autobiographies (the first if I recall), how after the match shown in Beyond The Mat where The Rock handcuffed Mick and then proceeded to give him 14 chairshots to Foley's head, all the wrestlers backstage except one went to see Mick and find out if he was alright. The one wrestler who didn't check to see if Mick was alright was the one who injured him - The Rock.
