Was Greg Hardy really that popular in American Football?

OK so where are all of the 6'5+ elite athletes doing around other areas of the world? Not playing soccer or rugby or football or tennis or cricket, so where are they? You say they exist and US is not the only producer of big elite athletes, so where are they? I'm trying to help you figure out that you have no point and that I am correct, you are getting closer to realizing it through your own ridiculous conclusions without thinking.

It’s fair enough if you want to believe that America is the home of giants because the majority of a small number of people competing in a relatively small league happen to be from America.

Despite what you may think there are mad tall people competing in all sports around the world, the majority, obviously due to the size of the world population, not being American.

Yes, there are not many sports where height is as much of an advantage as basketball, meaning that there is a high percentage concentrated in a small area. So, these tall people are selected and trained to be basketball players based upon their genetic attributes using the immense sporting infrastructure surrounding basketball, which simpy doesn’t exist elsewhere, despite the game being popular.

Perhaps it would be more interesting if you try to provide the rationale behind why you think America has more really tall people? The NBA isn’t an answer btw. Is it something in the water?

I didn't say america had more tall people, i said they have more tall elite athletes, there's a difference. Basketball is huge in China, a top sport, their population exceeds ours by a ton, yet there has only bee 1 notable chinese player ever in the NBA, and even he was not very athlietic, just tall, why, where are they. Shit man the NBA will draft dudes simply on athletic potential, don't even have to have good ball skills, where are they?

You can keep repeating this "in their prime" shit all you want, but Greg Hardy isn't in his prime. He didn't walk away from football in his prime. The last time he played football, he looked like half his former self. So if Justin Tucker started sucking and immediately went to MMA, no, it wouldn't be a big story. It'd be one headline that was forgotten in a week.

It's odd when people think a guy speaking english with an American dialect isn't from America.

Greg Hardy without a highly publicized assault case attached to his name, would not be in the UFC right now.
greg hardy was absolutely still a viable NFL athlete, if it weren't for the legal trouble he would still be playing today. His 2015 stats were above average for 12 games played coming off an off year.

You probably should have done the math before you posted this. You probably assumed this was a fast pace, but its not, at all.

This is only 4.47 miles/hr

The average accelerated walking pace is 5km per hour.

This is also an average, taking into consideration central defenders and midfielders who don’t generally cover as much ground.

Either way, the distance travelled by American footballers pales in comparison.

Yeah you having to go from "prime" to "still viable" pretty much says it all.

And here we are 3 years later. He's not an athlete in his prime, he has little to no experience, and he's got nothing but beating women attached to his name now. Watch as the story becomes completely about "why the UFC would give him a platform" and our sports rep is dragged through shit.

They have the most tall ‘elite’ athletes concentrated in a small area in a small league. Tall people playing in elite sports exist all over the world, look at heavyweight boxers, however things like height aren’t always an advantage as it is in basketball.

What, are you going to claim that kids aren’t selected to play basketball at a young age based largely on height?

1) Fantasy football is more popular than the UFC.

2) Virtually every NFL player who went to a major D1 University has more fans from their college days than most UFC fighters.

3) The average age of UFC HW is 33, Hardy is 29.

4) He's not in the UFC.

5) Kickers aren't football players, they're kickers.

Ah, so he's got out of his prime? i.e. lost shape?

When was his prime period then?

Was never past his prime physically. He simply fell out of favor with his teams because of his attitude.

Also it is difficult comparing his popularity to star quarterbacks like Brady and Manning. Qb's are always the face of the league. Even the very best defensive ends rarely become household names.

And? The fucking world cup is more popular than the NFL, should soccer players start making the transition?

2) Virtually every NFL player who went to a major D1 University has more fans from their college days than most UFC fighters.

And the ones who couldn't make the NFL? How did their popularity translate? We get it, the NFL has high ratings. Doesn't mean I wanna see Eli Manning play tennis.

3) The average age of UFC HW is 33, Hardy is 29.

And? Have any of you guys actually watched his fights? Literally the only thing that looks good, is his power. Not his athleticism, not his ground game, not his striking, not his cardio. The UFC's HW division being a pile of shit wouldn't be an excuse to bring in a 1-0 pedophile because he had a good knockout. Shouldn't be an excuse here.

4) He's not in the UFC.

He was signed yesterday. Try to keep up.

5) Kickers aren't football players, they're kickers.

So you're saying any pro-bowler from the NFL couldn't come over to the UFC and immediately be the new Conor? You don't say....

There are only two tall elite athletes in boxing right now and one would have played football or basketball but had a kid

All tall athletes in China play basketball why aren't they in the NBA?

No one really cared until the assault alligations. He was a good player but not anything that resembled a superstar.
That’s pretty moronic bro. He had 18 sacks at the most desired position on defence, that’s All-Pro level.

Firstly, his season high for sacks was 15, not 18. Secondly, he's kinda right. Greg Hardy wasn't a household name until the arrest. Most casual fans couldn't tell you who had 13+ sacks this last season

He was a household named if you watched football and that’s what he asked. If you can’t name the elite pass rushers in the sport, you are below a casual.

That's just not true. We're not talking about a guy that has had a long career of 10+ sacks per season. He did it twice. Are you "below a casual" if you dont know who Jason Babin is?
