Thank you Azam & n.diaz4life, you guys get it.

No one who is asking why Knurd didn't leave the gym didn't read the post, because he did leave the gym as the OP clearly details.

Businesses like this shouldn't be allowed to run. I understood "just leave the gym" comments on similar posts when people were asking what they should do about a bad coach, but this is someone who HAS left the gym and is reporting back about threats of serious violence and possibly even fraud. So it makes sense to go public.

I agree with Azam on the mechanic comparison, just leaving the gym and saying nothing when one threatens you with a knife, is ridiculous.

So there's a cobra kai gym in South Africa huh?

We should come up with a coordinated and well thought out plan to spread the word about this jerk until he is no longer able to get any business. I'm all in if anyone else here thinks this is what needs to be done. This type of stuff seriously makes me sick and chances are he's not as good a fighter as the people he's bullying (his "students") may believe.

If you have any ideas then please do inbox me, because I personally don't believe this business should be allowed to run, and it's not slander if he has confirmed his behaviour through the text messages he has sent Knurd. :)

Its interesting you bring up his skills though, because I was looking at videos from the gym on the old facebook page, and the guys are all quite stiff.

I'm just curious as to how Quentin Chong is the head representative of Muay Thai in South Africa. Though I don't know the guy personally, I know a few things:

    1) He is a relative of a friend from college.
    2) He trained Randy Couture in standup at some point (unknown as to how long).
    3) He "fought" Buakaw in a strange exhibition...I'm guessing Buakaw got paid big bucks for this:

Hell, Chong isn't even the most famous MT practitioner to come out of South Africa. A friend of mine from the MT scene here in LA (Paulo Tocha) is far more famous and relevant to Muay Thai than Chong...if you don't know who that is, you'd probably recognize the guy he played:

Yeah, a little off topic but just had to chime in. Something about Chong just doesn't seem right but again...I don't know the dude.

As far as the gym and owner in the OP, that sucks...someone needs to dojo storm that place lol.

Yeah I thought there was something off about him because I saw that fight too, as far as I'm aware though he has a muay thai record and championship wins outside of that weird exhibition fight. That being said, if he is the official representative, then even if he himself is sketchy he should still be able to tell us more about Vevers and whether or not he was ever appointed.

Honestly South African Muay Thai is just a shit show in general.

Yeah...well, not sure how much of his background is true or not but he did at least hold pads for Randy C at least once. You can find that pic on Google. My friend put up an album of pics (back in the MySpace days lol) of them going to Big John McCarthy's gym out here in Valencia and meeting up with Randy so that much is true.

Just a lot of weirdness overall...if you read his wiki, someone threw in that he had a hair transplant or something to battle his thinning hairline lol.

I'd honestly never heard of the guy until my friend and then years later here with the weird Buakaw thing.

Either way, hopefully he could shed some light on this gym owner and his bullshit.

I wonder if he told the guy to "bow to your sensei."

    UPDATE:

It seems that the gym is no longer running, we're not 100% sure but at the very least it appears that the gym may have closed.

The guy who posted this thread is talking absolute shit!! & because his "facts" are completely fabricated & incorrect . He is making such strong accusations & due to his personal vendetta with the Kru, which makes this personal & not of the opinion of any other students, past & present.

The Kru who is internationally qualified & certified & has contributed greatly to the PE striking & stand up circuit. He brought down 2 world champion trainers from Fairtex & Sinbi in Thailand to help influence Muay Thai in South Africa.

This is going to turn into a lawsuit where the "student" a.k.a Declan will be sued for deformation of character. Falsifying Information, loss of revenue due to affecting the gym's reputation by posting a fictious statement via his friend in the U.K

I suggest that the moderators & #admins remove this thread to avoid further damages & or losses.

    * In closing don't believe everything you read & make sure you get facts & sources correct ! There are always 3 sides to a story.. his side, the other side & the TRUTH !

If you want the full story I know several witnesses that were present during that particular training session & all of them will testify. Once in a while every club gets a rotten student & that rotten student is the source of this thread & has no honor & is a sarcastic emo nerd who like to troll!

If this thread is not removed then there will be serious Legal action for all the slander & damages.

Legal action against who? Sherdog??? Lol

If the story is so skewed to make your gym look bad, you might want to come out with some sort of public response...instead of just calling him a liar.

    1) *JOINED YESTERDAY / 3 MESSAGES

    2) If a nearly 1 year old thread (where its last activity before an update was 10 months ago and has only like 12 people on it so far and how many even live in the same country?) is seriously enough to take down the gym, chances are its a shit gym that was bound to fail. Seriously, you can't not laugh that you are coming here and basically saying

"This gym is taking heavy damage over a nearly 1 year old, insignificant, Sherdog thread"

    3) Prove it didn't happen because so far all you're saying is "the people at our gym can back us up" which is a shitty tactic that you constantly see from delusional business owners. It's like an episode of Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares where the owners go on about loyal customers as they're sat in a next to empty or completely empty restaurant and it turns out that the actual customers were right in saying such and such about the food / service.

    4) So far this is screaming admission of guilt due to the unprofessional manner. Let's recap to put things into light

A friend being told by a student what's happened
    Said friend posts on Sherdog
ALL HAPPENED NEARLY A YEAR AGO
    Does someone representing the gym

    A) Give a formal public statement addressing comments made (As suggested by @Paradigm )

    or

    B) Spits their dummy out, name drops a student, cries lawsuit and just throws ad hominems... like a sarcastic emo nerd who likes to troll

Hmmmmmmmm.......... which approach sounds less guilty?

Assume all you want when it appears on search engines like Google it taints the name of the gym. The gym has been closed for sometime now. This is a matter of principle. Anyone who is affiliated to the gym will clearly have a right to be angry with the very exaggerated & very obscured story that has been spun here.. it's an injustice.

A matter of principle? THE GYM IS DEAD AND THIS FORUM IS BASICALLY DEAD WITH ONLY YOU KEEPING IT ALIVE RIGHT NOW! Now let me tell you how web activity works, sunshine. The more activity something gets, the more likely it is to be at the top of the page, so congratulations on giving this thread more traffic.

I'm not saying the story isn't bullshit. I do sympathize with people / businesses who do face false claims but what you are failing to understand is that there are right and wrong ways of doing things and this is definitely the wrong way, especially the threatening to sue part. Just pay attention to @CoolKnees comment

Even if the case is false, that is on YOU and the same is currently applying to me right now every time you reply, do you comprehend that?

Also i'm someone who is currently seeing people go through a court case over a bad reference that should see justice so I know how expensive that shit is. How much are you planning to sue for and can said student actually pay it? If *insert ridiculous amount* and no then YAYYY, principle throws him out on the street with fuck all and here comes the best part.... you've got a fuck ton of court fees to pay. Good job.

But he would not know that ahead of time. He did quit the gym, but I doubt there are many legit training options in SA.

A thread on a forum isn't enough to shut down a gym. If it's a legit gym with a conducive training environment it will thrive. If it's a shitty gym with a shitty coach or shitty training environment then it won't thrive. It's that simple. It will take MUCH, MUCH MORE than a mere thread on the
internet to shut down a good gym.

And as already noted Kazeflash's demeanor gives a whole lot of credibility to the accusations made against that gym.
