War Room North Korea Strategy

wait... aren't you supportive of US ground troops and further military strikes in Syria?
Correct me if I'm wrong.
So you think we should send troops to Syria but NK is an exaggerated threat and hawkish rhetoric?
I supported the missile attack on the airbase in Syria in retaliation for the chemical weapons attack on civilians. We're already on the ground there, not starting a new conflict.

The N Korean threat is the same as it was three months ago, and three years ago. I'm calling out the manufacturing of consent that's happening right now. They didn't become a threat all of a sudden. We're shutting out diplomacy when we should be using it.

Is this the best thread we could come up with for WW3? The OP has next to no analysis.

I think Obama's "this isn't happening' bullshit led us to the brink and now that Trump has showed himself a total joke on the world stage Kim is emboldened. No way he pulls this shit with a competent leader at the helm.

We need to start direct talks. Like yesterday. A war on the Korean peninsula in this day and age would be one of the great tragedies in human history.

Yeah. Direct talks is our best option right now. The bullshit no negiotiation strategy led us to this point.

Regardless of what they are capable of now, we can almost guarantee that given enough time they will have an extinction level nuclear arsenal.
If we don't want to worry about other countries building weapons to protect themselves or attack us, perhaps we shouldn't be in the business of invading defenseless countries or trying to dictate what they do within their own borders.

Either that or america has to blow everyone else off the map, including ourballies, because at this rate the rest of the world will hate us and it will be our turn to be eradicated. No two ways about it.

I don't think so. With China's cooperation we would have all of the political leverage. But by alienating China like Trump is doing, we lose that.

I know the idea of the apocalypse brings excitement to your dull and boring lives but Korea has been sabré rattling for years.

Back to killing time with Sherdog and porn.

Why not? Really, why not? And what's stopping it from happening now?

As silly as it sounds, because we don't want to legitimize them. They're a Stalinist dictatorship in the 21st century and extremely hostile toward a strong ally, which makes them an enemy. But knowing what we do of Kim, there isn't anything to be gained by talking to them. He demands an equal seat at the table with legitimate world powers, and he's not going to get that.

It's a tricky situation. One that you probably can't know all the answers to. Because it involves all these relationships with China, Russia and basically the whole world.

Trump needs prayer for Godly wisdom in this situation.

Kill them all, even the little ones. Spare none except for the virgin females. You can keep them for yourselves - God.

Even Trump can do better than that guy.

Well then don't bitch when the military option rears its ugly head.

It's not a polarized choice of either talking directly to Kim or getting into a nuclear exchange. The problem here is that when the diplomatic crux found our leadership, our leadership took a shit on the diplomacy because it was too hard and we didn't have the patience or the wisdom to cut a deal with China. You can't type at me with a straight hand and tell me that's not worth criticizing.

In reality, it's all business as usual. But in the world of manufacturing consent, it's a "new" threat. The clincher for me was when we recently started exaggerating their nuclear progress. It's not that they aren't progressing- there's just no reason to believe they're doing it at this breakneck speed or that it's cause for panic. They're about as much of a threat to us as Iceland. They're about as much of a threat to South Korea as South Korea is to them. But notice how their technology is being reported in American City Units. Kim can hit Anchorage, L.A., Seattle, and next week it will be Cleveland or some other city that is supposed to conjure up "The Heartland." All part of the rhetoric. Pyongyang foolishly bites the hook because it plays well to their image, while we're deciding whether or not to go through with another bullshit war.

Don't fall for it.

I agree with this, but part of me also fears that you could be very wrong. What happens if, we don't fall for it, and in fact they are progressing at a breakneck speed and do infact hit the heartland? I would feel like shit since I, and apparently the whole world decided to not fall for it.

I truly hope you are right..

America's foreign policy has universally sucked shit post WW2 so yeah I'll criticize it. I'll also criticize a country with too much pride to exhaust every option before possible nuclear conflict. Twisting China's titty didn't work so direct talks are all the US has left and Trump is dumb as a mother fucker so the odds of that working are nil but it must be tried.
