Maia is an amazing person, and like you said, a true role model. But he won't win the belt, ever. He's 40 years of age and would need drastic improvements in many aspects of MMA to win the belt. He simply isn't young enough or has enough time to raise his overall game to the necessary level.

In pure submissions, he's a genius. But his wrestling is subpar and his striking is even worse. He wouldn't take Woodley down, and therefore would look like a gassed fish out of water.

It's sad to say, as he's a truly admirable human being.
