Hogan, Andre, Bret, Austin from this list
Based on importance to the business:
Austin, Hogan, Bruno, Andre
Based on my personal Mt Rushmore for my own entertainment value:
Bret, Angle, Savage, Austin
Based on the True, For Real Mt Rushmore:
Rikidozan, El Santo, Hulk, Andre
Hogan, Flair, Thesz, Gorgeous George.
Rikidozan, Inoki, Baba, Choshu
Santo, Blue Demon, Canek, Gory
Whipper Watson, Bret Hart, Gene Kiniski, Yvon Robert
can foreigners be on mt rushmore?
i need some clarification of what exactly we are voting on
My list is easy
Maybe sub Hack with Karl Gotch.
1st three choices were easy. I view the Mt Rushmore as who has had the biggest impact on the sport.
1st Vinnie. Took it from small, dingy arenas and made it a billion dollar industry. Nobody had impacted wrestling like Vince.
2nd Hogan. One of the 1st to make wrestling "cool" or at least make it so you could talk about wrestling and not be completely shut down.
3rd Andre. Maybe the most reconizable wrestler ever. EVERYONE knows who Andre is. A true larger than life icon.
Last one I really couldn't decide on so I cheaped out and went other. Coulld have chosen:
Austin. Really made wrestling "cool".
Rock. Huge personaliity, but may go down known more for things outside wrestling.
Cena. Hate the guy if you want, but with all the stuff he does in AND outside the ring he has to be considered.
Flair. In ring a master, but very little impact outside.
Piper. All around star, but missing that 1 thing that puts him at the top.
Various international stars. Inoki, Santos, Baba, Colon, etc all have a case to be made. Holding them back is lack of impact outside of their respective countries (and often times countries of their compatriots listed).
Tiger Mask (the character). One of the 1st I can remember to make smaller wrestlers seem legit. And who doesn't love a guy wrestling in a mask of a tiger.
HHH. This one was almost my last choice. With what he did in the ring, and what he has done with NxT, he is close to making the mountain. Once he takes over for Vince, I think a new age of pro wrestling will be upon us.
Andre, Hogan, Flair, Austin. With an additional sculp of Vince above them.
From the list: Hogan, Austin, Rock and Vince.
4 difference versions of Vince.
Vince? Sorry pal, but he was never involved with pro wrestling. He's in the sports entertainment business.
Also, anyone who's ever heard of El Santo is fully aware of Hulk Hogan. The reverse is not true therefore Hulk is more famous.
Hulk for being the biggest star in the history of the business
Andre for being the most recognizable wrestler in history
Rock for being Rock
Randy "Macho Man" Savage for being GOAT
Hulk wasn't even as famous in the US as Santo was in Mexico lmao. The only person even remotely on Santo's level is Rikidozan, and Santo was around way longer.
Hmm, you could be right although we one would have to be Vince Sr.
- Vince Sr of 1972 (Bruno)
- Vince Jr of 1985 (Announcer Vince/Hogan)
- Vince Jr of 1998 (Evil Owner/Austin)
- Vince Jr of 2007 (Bald head/Cena)
I could see Vince doing this lol.
Hogan was not as big a star in the US that El Santo but with that said, I still believe Hogan is the most recognizable wrestling figure in the world today. The only reason the Rock MAY have eclipsed him is due to being the biggest movie star alive today.
With the way I voted, I kept it strictly American. If I included the entire world, in terms of importance, how well known they were, and legacy/impact, it would be:
I refuse to acknowledge a list that doesn't include Tommy Rich.
No. White American males only
i guess i am the only vote for mr h.
i only voted him because i think he has a lot of influence on the product now and is likely to be vkm once vince dies
keep posting in this thread. im laughing my ass off
just saw this.
thats why i am the lone vote for mr. h
Ive enjoyed his acting in most movies Ive seen him in, wrestling for the past 20+years.....not so enjoyable, at all
hogan because of being the most popular figure at the height of it all
ric flair because his longevity, his charisma and his popularity outside wwf while wwf was going thru its major growth
stonecold/rock for some of the reasons as both above, these 4 guys were icons of their time, they invoked a serious following/interest into pro wrestling....Im sure ultimately there are others that have done more for the sport's popularity or other reasons that would make them more deserving...but hogan and flair for their time, steve and the rock for theirs...
I guess Bruno was the man back in the day, but he never achieved the heights in reknown and popularity....in the longterm that the 4 I named did
everyone else on that list shared time with these 4 guys and/or never reached the heights they did...or were from a later era ((cena)) where wrestling just isnt nearly as iconic/popular/fun as it was...for a whole multitude of reasons
Mount Rushmore in reality isn't the greatest 4 presidents anyway.
Vince HAS to be there as the Roosevelt of the bunch imo
Separate names with a comma.
