You can crank the body, but not the head.
No doubt about it
You could see signs when he was resting his head on bigfoots chest getting elbowed
No doubt in my mind fatigue contributed to the loss. Hopefully it's a wake up call for him.
Yeah I would say he gassed out, not exhausted, but definitely slowed down quite a bit. Add that to the fact that Reem never was able to take a good shot well, there you have his demise. It has been brought up before in a thread and in a recent interview with Bas that said there may have been a head clash right before the barrage, its hard to tell, but possible. Maybe Reem was rocked going in.
When you got two 265lbs monsters, of course they're going to get gassed, one just showed more heart in the final stages.
I think he looked tired.
Gassing means lactic acid that makes it hard to grapple or throw strikes, slows you down. It doesn't mean you have to be physically tired, but that can be a part of it.
Reem didn't show any of this, but the opposite: he toyed with BF for two rounds, then went forward and tried to end it at close range, also with knees from the thai plum. He got caught while trying to do so, and never recovered.
Overeem's cardio at HW has been better than at LHW, but it's still average at best even for HW standards. This Silva fight was also slow-paced, with Silva doing next to nothing and Alistair picking his shots for the most part. That also helps to prevent gassing.
It's funny when people say that The reem doesn't have a chin, he took HUUGE shots from one of the biggest guys in the UFC today and didn't go down straight away, those shots would put many people to sleep in an instant.
And no, im not saying he has a great chin either beeing knocked out a bunch of times, im just saying it's not as bad some people seem to think.
