Unsigned Heavyweights - Thread Four

him vs justin willis imo is the fight to make

Man, Arsen has been MIA forever. One fight in 3 years. And yeah, agreed. Willis vs Arsen, winner gets a title shot after Shawn Jordan gets his shot against Ivanov.

This weekend's pro action....

Ivan Strydom (0-2) vs. Wessel Mostert (1-0) (EFC 52)
Evgeny Myakinkin (14-7) vs. Dmitry Poberezhets (23-5-1) (Tech-Krep FC)
Arkadiy Lisin (1-1) vs. Bogdan Guskov (1-0) (Tech-Krep FC)
Derrick Mehmen (19-7) vs. DJ Linderman (19-11) (Titan FC 40)
Brendan Battles (1-0) vs. Derrick Brown (4-3) (NEF)
Andres Alcantar (2-0) vs. Raul Nava (0-1) (Iron Boy MMA 2)
Lukasz Cwikla (0-0) vs. Stanislav Khmiklovski (1-0) (Spartan Fight 4)
Cody Bruce (1-0) vs. William Vincent (2-4) (Hardrock MMA 82)
Tony Lopez (42-23) vs. Mike Hayes (20-11-2) (KOTC)
Scott Davenport (2-1) vs. Jimmy Jennett (0-1) (KOTC)

Interested to see how Mostert and Battles fare, hopefully they both move to 2-0.

Really looking forward to seeing Battles. Dana will be there for Looking for a Fight, so if Battles puts on a good performance he'll be on the radar.

Few amateur HW fights too

Niker Tan (7-1 Am) vs. Steven Yeoh (6-5 Am) - Malaysian Invasion
Yaw Kent Tham (4-1 Am) vs. Tsan Nieng Khai (4-1 Am) - Malaysian Invasion
Brian Peterson (4-1 Am) vs. Eli Strong (1-1 Am) - XFO 59
Michael Lynch (3-1 Am) vs. Tyler Shipp (2-0 Am) - Hardrock

Dmitry Poberzhets just lost by DQ. He had his opponent nearly out but then he threw a kick to the face to Myankinkin.

What a dumb move. He basically had that fight won too.

Derrick Brown defeats Brendan Battles via KO/TKO at 1:51 of Round 2

Battles is a good prospect, but man did he get rushed. His first amateur fight was less than a year ago, and he only had two amateur fights before going pro. I'm fairly resigned at this point to say that unless North American heavyweights have a world class athletic or martial arts background, they should have 5-10 amateur fights to get experience.

Not surprised that Sherman lost. From what I saw of him, he's a plodding, hittable HW with good leg kicks and power. Kinda took a shot in the dark with Ledet though, only fight I could find of him was one that happened years ago. It was against Isaac Villanueva I believe. He mostly brawled in there, but the few moments he didn't, he showed some fast strikes.

Went with him due to the reach and speed advantage. Interested in seeing if he drops down or not. Sherman vs Smolyakov should be made, loser gets cut.

I think he should drop, and I'm just saying that because 205 needs guys.lol As impressive his victory was, he definitely looked a weight class lower than Sherman. I see someone eventually exploiting his size with wrestling and heavy kicks. We'll see how things go for him in the future.

Also, so happy Tybura rebounded in such a big way. Sad it was at the expense of Pesta though. Tybura looked great, all I could think about after the KO is this thread and how happy everyone here probably was. Now if Blaydes can rebound in a similar way we'll be back on track!

Shipp won 2nd Rd submission (strikes)

Wessel Mostert submits his man in the 1st round to move to 2-0.

Tony Lopez> mike Hayes una.dec. Kotc

linderman> mehmen at titan fc

Linderman and Lopez, the ultimate heavyweight journeymen. Now that Monson can barely move, they are are the two best guys to pull off upset wins on a weeks notice for a fight.

"Hey Tony, Fedor's opponent dropped out at the last minute, can you step in?"

"Yeah. Do I have time to shave?"

Wessel Mostert submits his man in the 1st round to move to 2-0.

I'm going to predict that he'll be EFC champion by the end of 2017. Interested to see how they want to develop him, hopefully slow, gradual steps the next year and a half.

I kinda like the Walsh/Johnson fight actually. The two Brazilian fights could produce someone to keep an eye on.
