Unpopular Opinion: Incel is a media driven marketing term for identity

Involuntary Celibacy was never a problem. Since when has someone having sex ever mattered to another person? We have these delusions that because some guy who posted it on Facebook has some form of command or identity with other people like him. This is just a stance the media has grabbed onto and has been promoted as an insult for those who want to disagree and throw a negative perception onto another person.

Not that long ago we had TV shows and books coming out on how men can pick up women. This was pretty mainstream. I know that part of it was for entertainment purposes and they are at best self help books, but that doesn't change the fact nobody had issues with these people until that facebook post.

Nobody cares about those who don't get laid. Even if they did get laid what business is it of ours? There is much more to this than someone who's ugly or antisocial. That's using too broad of strokes for this. There is a problem within our society when we promote promiscuity and demean those who are unable to achieve even the most basic levels of human sexual interaction.

No this isn't a post saying that men deserve to get laid, or that women should be putting out for any dude just to make things "equal."

I'm going to tell all of you a story. There was once a young incel in America. He liked girls but they weren't all that into him. So he wrote a computer program for his high school that put him into classes with more girls. That young incel went on to become a billionaire, have sex, and 4 children.

His name was William Gates.

All incels should learn from his example. Add something of value to society or get rich, there's no reason to lash out at others.

I think there's a much bigger problem with people not succeeding and seeing the rest of the world as the problem. If women aren't attracted to you, there's a reason. Maybe it's because you've got an extra 20lbs of flab hanging around your gut; maybe you don't think that should matter to women but you don't get to choose what women are attracted to. Maybe it's because you're in your mid-20's and don't have a career yet. Again maybe not a big deal to you but if the goal is getting laid then maybe it should be. Even those people can still find romance, just not with the type of mate they'd prefer. If your beliefs and the reality of your situation don't add up, there's only one thing you can change - and it's not reality.

I doubt there are many actual incels. I think these dudes are just shooting for 9s when they're like a 4. Anybody can get laid if they're realistic, so it's not involuntary celibacy, they're just pissed because they strike out swinging for the fences.

I'll make a point in their favor though - jokes aside, I think it is harder for guys on the lower end of the scale to get laid these days. Even if the dude is a 4, social media has expanded his competition significantly and there are 5's and 6's who are running multiple relationships with women that the 4's should have a shot at and thus taking them off the market for the 4.

Appearance is far more important in this era when people are posting a picture of themselves and what they're doing all of the time.

I'll make a point in their favor though - jokes aside, I think it is harder for guys on the lower end of the scale to get laid these days. Even if the dude is a 4, social media has expanded his competition significantly and there are 5's and 6's who are running multiple relationships with women that the 4's should have a shot at and thus taking them off the market for the 4.

Probably true, but girls are also running multiple dudes, so there's still room. There's nobody who couldn't at least pick themselves up a point level if they worked out for a few months. Pretty much anybody could smash a cougar, but yeah, for a lot of guys, just having a nice girlfriend is unlikely.

It's just a tag certain people on 4chan and reddit gave themselves. A few years ago they were calling themselves robots to highlight their autistic tendencies. The MSM never picked up on that one because nobody did a terrorism in the name of the robots. After that idiot killed people in Canada, various crappy journalists spent an afternoon googling and then wrote terrible articles about how this mysterious group is the New Threat To Society.

I think it's largely a misnomer anyway. A lot of the 4chan types would be more accurately labelled as happy-fappers. They've given up on real women altogether because why bother chasing after 4s in real life when they've got all the porn they need that's just a click away. Heck, there's even a subsection who don't even like real women on their computer screens, and only look at hentai stuff.

That's what I was getting at with the bolded part below. It's like claiming "I can't find any rocks" when they're only looking for diamonds. @panamaican brought up a good point that there might be some rock hoarders at the moment, though. But I'm not sure that makes it harder for guys to find a mate, as much as it just changes the game that some guys were having a hard time grasping anyway.
