Hyenas can't mate with dogs. I was thinking more of a domestic one that got loose. Or an American Hyena that we thought was extinct.

I honestly don't see any extra hair. It has less, or at least shorter hair than a wolf, with some areas of hair loss around the armpit, scapula, and side.
