Welp, with BJ Penn pulling out this is officially the worst card of the year.

You know the card sucks for betting when you are considering alvey as parlay fodder!

Every athlete that's on the Philippine card is going to be giving blood work when they get there. Test hot, passport confiscated in country

No, but that's why a couple of his replacement that were offered won't go https://twitter.com/phillies4peat/status/783810873978556417 …

Pretty sad to hear about the political state of the Philippines. I lived in Manila from like 82-96 and it was a pretty cool place. It is a developing country so it wasn't without its problems but overall a very chill place with nice people. It sucks to hear this hitleresque Duerte guy is leading the country in a violent and intolerant direction.

They should take their cue from more developed countries that are starting to understand drug addiction is more like a sickness than criminal activity. Isolating and penalizing drug users doesn't help solve the problem it just makes life difficult for people that already have life problems.

Unable to secure a replacement opponent in time for next week’s UFC Fight Night 97 headliner, UFC officials have elected to scrap the event.

The promotion today announced that following UFC Hall of Famer B.J. Penn’s decision to withdraw from a planned contest with Ricardo Lamas, it has elected to call off the entire card.

MMAjunkie confirmed with a UFC official that the remaining 19 fighters on the card all will be awarded their contracted show money despite not competing.

what!?

Honestly think this is a good call by the UFC, not worth the repercussions of a single fighter testing positive with that 'I'm going to slaughter people who take drugs' nutjob in charge of the country.

Really ashame. I enjoy fight cards at weird times for us Muricans, was looking forward to some of those fights, and now 4 weeks w no UFC

Hmm.... would be surprised if that actually played a part in the decision. Sucks though, I was REALLY confident on Ali/Hori going the distance, now I have a bunch of broken parlays that were pretty important to me.
