UFC can't control its fighters. Nick, Nate, Conor, GSP, all won't fight unless it's their terms. UFC can't pay its fighters (see Ferguson). No long term development of talent. All promotion on Rhonda. Entertainment media now running fight game the way so many promotions have failed before. Elite EX, affliction, Yamma, and UFC follows their model of failure. Worst first quarter of PPV buys since 2005. Lawsuits and bankruptcy will soon follow. Fighters will all be free agents / promoters and we are entering the boxing era.

just like boxing has been dying for the last 50 years.

Welcome back everybody to the bi-weekly UFC is dying thread

Boxing really is dying.
Ya you're right

80000 plus fans at Wimbley for Joshua Klitschko. I know that's one example but I still think boxing is bigger world wide.

These are complaints that Frank Shamrock leveled against Dana a long ass time ago, and Dana called him crazy and a weirdo.

It's been dying since 2001 according to Sherdog. Here's a screen cap of 2001 EZboard Sherdog. 5th post from botton, check it out. Your dad made it before he got banned for spamming.

Lol @ them not controlling their fighters. They dont own them, they cant make them fight if they dont want to. That is true of any fight sport or promotion, and its only going to happen more often, the more money fighters make. Surely its better than guys like Frank Shamrock and Tito Ortiz not fighting because they werent making ENOUGH.

Selling the UFC for over 4 billion opened Pandora's Box -- and rightfully so -- The fighters deserve a much larger share of the pie.

The fighters are individual contractors and UFC has the ability to really screw them. End promoting them, turn off their Reebok line ala Brandon Schuab, book them only against stylistic nightmares, maybe muddle in the gym politics of said fighters, there are a LOT of things UFC can do to make life very inconvenient for everyone close to the personal life of the fighter (husband, wife, mommy, daddy, kids).

It doesn't happen because...
1. UFC is not a Yakuza like Pride was.
2. UFC would lose money by doing this.
3. UFC doesn't care if a few fighters voice those opinions because it's too big to care.

UFC will only care about fighters making statements in one of two scenarios. One, the statement somehow brings the UFC millions of dollars or Two - the statement somehow could cost the UFC millions of dollars.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the Fertittas are laughing their asses off, they got out because they saw all this shit coming a mile away.
