Really don't understand why Cruz get's so much crap for the gassing comment. Conor's coach admitted that their plan was to basically sit in guard and be defensive, but not force any energy to try and stand up. They thought by round 3-4-5 they'd have a gassed Khabib. Similar to the Mendes fight in a way.

In hindsight, it was a terrible game plan. What Conor needed was at least the first half of the 1st round to be stand up and attacks to the body. But he got taken down almost instantly. And it was all downhill from there.
