"UFC turned down 5 billion dollar offer"

Anybody else think this is a crock of shit by Dana to make IMG WME feel better about their shitty investment decision? If they cared more about the future of the UFC than money they wouldn't have sold in the first place.

The Fertittas were all about the money from the get-go. They paid fighters zilch and handed out questionable use exemptions on PEDs (see Vitor Belfort and Brock Lesnar.)

I have no inside information. But it looked from the outside like they were positioning the UFC to sell, such as by holding carts almost four weeks out of five each calendar year.

Dana and WME don't care about MMA any more than the Fertittas did. We'll see how the debt-heavy version of MMA promotions does when it has to make big principal repayments starting in 2021.

last time the offer was 4,5. seems to go up as time passes. it'll be 5,5 next year.

probably harder for them to buy it back from the Chinese at a cut price rate in a few years

Listen up

sometimes people can offer "larger" offers, but actually there is LESS upfront, and sometimes part/all of any later payments is conditional on other things occurring. So its possible soemoen offered 5 billion, but maybe they were only prepared to pay 3 billion now, and the other 2 billion were based on certain profits being achieved or something like that

as you know, as a sherbro and someone who says "or something like that", I am clearly an expert on such deals.

That is more than likely what happened -- the larger offer had less upfront and more on the back end.
