How can a guy like Conor McGregor fairly make more money defending a belt that limits him to having to fight anyone over 155 pounds, than the real UFC Champions, guys like Coleman, Severn, and Kerr had to be ready to defend against anyone of any size? Being the best of the best should pay more than "being good for a little guy who is protected from fighting bigger guys." The real UFC Champions weren't protected from any challengers of any size. Yet they only got paid a tiny fraction of what McGregor gets paid.

The highest paid champion should be the champion who is willing to fight any challenger on the entire UFC roster. That makes that champion the best of the best. That's far more impressive than only defending a "championship" against people who all weigh between 145 and 155 pounds.

The way you put it none of them are real champions until they fight Stipe because that is where the weight classes end lol.

Theres wasnt much money to pay Coleman or Severn.

Yeah it sucks they are poor now but no one got filthy rich off of them and the guys with money now arent the same ones. Sure it would be good morally to throw them something but it isnt good for WME's bottom line.

Guys from Titos era through now are the ones who got robbed with either the fertittas or WME making millions off of fighters and paying them peanuts.

Even Conor they give like five mil a fight and is worth five times that easily based on what they make off him.

Then they take away sponsors but dont worry, because "heres a few more Reebok branded peanuts, maybe for Christmas we'll give you the UFC hot dog brander if you're a needle mover"

You say it is corrupt, but your argument doesn't even attempt to show that it is. I think you meant to say that the UFC pay structure is unfair.

The UFC is a for profit business based on entertainment. All sports is entertainment. That's why you see shitty baseball or basketball markets like Montreal and Seattle have their teams moved to better places. Because they don't make money.

At the end of the day, the best fighter in the world doesn't necessarily make the company the most money. That's not the UFC or the fighter's fault, that's the fans fault for not supporting the best fighter

It was more of a sport then. Fighter pay was based upon winning fights and being the champion. There was one champion and he had to be prepared to defend against anyone. Now it is a spectacle because fighter pay isn't based on being the best fighter in the UFC; it's based upon having the loudest mouth and the most attention getting stunts outside the Octagon, none of which have anything to do with athleticism and toughness.

Pretty much. I respect MM and his greatness - never bought a PPV he headlined. Whereas I've bought Brock, GSP, Conor.

No one wants 2 massive dudes swing for the fences for a minute then spend upto 24 minutes pawing at each other from exhaustion.

Stipe hasn't faced anyone over 265.

All sports are entertainment but the athletes that get paid the most are the ones who put in the best athletic performance. When does the best player in baseball or soccer or football make less money than a guy who isn't nearly as good a player but is paid more because the fans like his interviews and personality better? Give me examples of that happening if you believe it does happen.
