Didn't realize he was training out of K-Dojo. Or that he was on the market. Doesn't have a pro MMA fight but considering the state of heavyweight, I'm happy with the signing.
Thought he was going to compete at the 2016 Olympics though.

Here's a recent story on him by John Morgan.

Now, all we need is for them to pick up Minakov, Tybura, Johnson, Grabowski, Cup Check, Sergei and Goltsov and they'll finally have a division again.

Can't wait to see who he's going to fight first! Maybe he could fight someone like Anthony Hamilton.

He got poisoned with mercury at the 2008 Olympics and also had a 4 hour roll with Arlovski?

    No MMA fights? What?

Unless CM Punk is going to fight at heavyweight, that's a weird signing.

Not really when you consider how terrible heavyweight is. And that Bellator might be moving in the same direction with signings like Aaron Pico.

Besides, why not? Not like the bottom of HW is a shark tank. He's a real prospect, a great athlete, and a mastery of one the skill you need to be good at to be a good MMA fighter. That's a lot more than what a lot of these other heavyweights bring to the table and should be enough to help him through the early part of his career.

Well Brock only had one fight before being signed and he wasn't an Olympic bronze medalist.

Yeah you're right. Sign of the times for the heavyweight division. They'll be bringing James Toney back any day now.

Holy shit! I made a thread about him maybe 2 weeks ago about how he could make waves in the HW division if he was dedicated to learning more than wrestling.

Did not expect his 'I could beat Cain Velasquez in 6 months' to work as well as it did.

Everyone roasted the UFC for not signing Cole Konrad, and this situation is similar (although Cole had 2 pro fights). This time they made right and signed Bilyal early. This is a huge breath of fresh air for HW, and it means that likely they have seen him train and he looks UFC level already, which makes me ultra excited.

Also Makhov is frigging huge, he could probably just sit down on half the HW division and laugh as they tried to get up.
