UFC LHW division is completely dead. Where are the rising contenders?

Reyes, Ankalaev, Cutelaba, Pedro, Edilov. These are the ones with the most promise IMO.

Fear not--Rashad Evans is coming back to revitalize it, and reclaim his belt.

The division appears thin, but it isn't doomed...

A big part of the problem is a dominant champion. If we removed DC from the equation (and JJ continues to remove himself from it), most of the top 10 in the UFC could be champs, and the belt would turn over and over and over, like it did back in the mid 2000s starting at the end of Chuck's run until JJ got the belt...it was "exciting" because we didn't know who was going to win...there was a lot more parity, even though the level of fighting was lower. Even when JJ first got the belt, we could buy into the challenges even though he destroyed challenger after challenger, and his only close fight was against Gus.

If we removed DC from the equation, would we still call the division thin, or can we acknowledge that it seems thin because there is such a large disparity between the champ and the challengers?

With DC moving up to fight Stipe, Jones on his yearly fuckup routine, and the only mildly promising contender in No Time losing convincingly to DC, what's left?

I just pulled these rankings from UFC.com

1 Alexander Gustafsson
2 Volkan Oezdemir
3 Glover Teixeira
4 Jimi Manuwa
5 Ilir Latifi
6 Ovince Saint Preux
7 Mauricio Rua
8 Misha Cirkunov
9 Corey Anderson
10 Patrick Cummins
11 Jan Blachowicz
12 Tyson Pedro
13 Gadzhimurad Antigulov
14 Gian Villante
15 Jordan Johnson *NR

Gus, Volkan, and maybe Glover are the only top guys left and there is next to no prospects coming over the horizon.

Is LHW doomed?
Dominic reyes is the future champion. He is going to be better than jon jones too.

Nemkov and most russians in general at the heavier weight classes all roid and especially nemkov is very likely to fail usada.

Personally I would still call it thin. You can watch fights and be entirely unimpressed. If you take MM out of FLW, the division is still pretty thin imo. I enjoy FLW more than LHW tho.

With the div being so weak he might have a shot LOL. :D

Two years and a Jones retirement or loss, the division will be sorted out. As fans, this kind of division requires patience to grow and sort out. It's been through a lot, folks.

Is normal.

Talent is there, they just haven't built up their names.

Helax. Jon is coming back to restore order in the mess that is the light heavyweight division.

It's weak because the top 3 Jones, Rumble, DC won't be there anymore.

Jones's dominance was the only interesting feature. DC is special, but he's not captivating in or out of the ring.

You mean Jone's faux dominance. He did nothing but use PED and fuck in outside the cage as well. The fighters he "defeated" were cast out of casuals' minds as far as relevancy, as is seen by OP and your comments.
