I wouldn't say that. Both sports are equally good in their own context.

Boxing has a more knowledgeable hardcore fan base, who actually understand and can appreciate the skills of the fighters.

Hardcore MMA Fans have no clue. A sloppy bloodfest is what they consider "fight of the year." As soon as they see two guys swinging wildly with blood dripping down their faces, they see it as a great fight. LOL
 
Yes, it is pro-wrestling with real fights. It's not extra good or bad it's just what it is.

The UFC cares only for profits, revenue and expansion. They don't give two fucks about fighters, fans nor the "sport".

Perhaps in North Amercia, but ONE is growing the sport in Asia. MMA is alive and kicking.
