Let’s see if fighter pay changes.
Isn't that what WME wanted?
Did the Fertittas get conned?
ESPN is bigger than HBO.
espn is dead
Yet it is in 3 times as many homes in the US than HBO.
what about fox?
And yet they had massive layoffs. ESPN is in more homes because they are part of cable packages. You have to specifically order HBO. ESPN needs UFC just as much as UFC needs them.
hbo was never in play and more people have espn than do hbo.
same
ESPN is the most expensive channel in those cable packages because they're the most desired station by cable companies. ESPN costs 3 times more than any other channel. ESPN doesn't need the UFC, the UFC isn't going to make cable audiences bigger, it's at best filler TV for ESPN when they don't have a football, basketball, or baseball game to broadcast....these are all sports that are much bigger than the UFC dreams of being.
ESPN has a bigger audience than HBO and FOX.
It's the world wide leader in sports in America.
WME definitely did not get connned.
http://www.indiewire.com/2017/12/hi...ed-hbo-cbs-espn-fx-msnbc-fox-news-1201911363/It what universe are they getting $450 million a year? ESPN is bleeding viewers btw.
Fertittas conned WME
Nobody got conned
WME is gonna make bank with UFC and ferttittas got rich AF exiting the business. Win/win
Isn't ESPN like basic cable and HBO premium and less widely available tho?no
wme got conned
espn is no hbo
yes but hbo is eliteIsn't ESPN like basic cable and HBO premium and less widely available tho?
Just wait til young Erik Silva grows in to his shoes. He is a boy today but the star of the future we need tomorrow. ESPN made the right choice with such a young buck in the stable.agreed.
MMA is the future.
Seems like everyone won but MMA fans. It's been a rough transition.
The details of this deal seem good for fans though. More free or inexpensive cards, fewer PPVs, etc.
Hmmm, it is, but I do wonder who would pull bigger numbers if they both had some mega fight that everyone knew about. Boxing seems to do better on hbo because that is 'the home of boxing' and long established. Hbo is an interesting place for UFC to fall, as they would seem to be losing visibility from FOX. No doubt ESPN is trying some drastic overhaul, as this is a bold move.yes but hbo is elite
In wonder if having a new partner will result in UFC trying to put its best foot fwd (e.g. When the FOX deal was freshly made), and, if having such cash injected into it's economy will result in WME being more willing to drop some cash and get big fights made. I'm sure they will be bummed if Nunes vs Pennington scissor fest will be the best UFC can offer. The fans benefit. There are even less cards, which should result in deeper ones.

ESPN is included in all basic cable programming, you idiot. HBO costs extra, it’s a premium channel.
Everyone is getting sidetracked by how much money is being made. You are all forgetting that the UFC has become garbage in the past few years.
How exactly is ESPN going to make all this money when the brand itself has become such shit?
