UFC getting $450 million a year from ESPN.

Yet it is in 3 times as many homes in the US than HBO.

And yet they had massive layoffs. ESPN is in more homes because they are part of cable packages. You have to specifically order HBO. ESPN needs UFC just as much as UFC needs them.

Are they really paying $450M a year for UFC? No fucking way. Source?

Seems like everyone won but MMA fans. It's been a rough transition.

The details of this deal seem good for fans though. More free or inexpensive cards, fewer PPVs, etc.

how mma fans lose. espn will be the same as fs1. same number of ppvs and im sure a few on fight pass still.

so far only difference is no fights on abc so ufc is losing that.

you know no matter what people will still say that event card is trash nobody watching that crap

ESPN is the most expensive channel in those cable packages because they're the most desired station by cable companies. ESPN costs 3 times more than any other channel. ESPN doesn't need the UFC, the UFC isn't going to make cable audiences bigger, it's at best filler TV for ESPN when they don't have a football, basketball, or baseball game to broadcast....these are all sports that are much bigger than the UFC dreams of being.

They are getting 300 million a year which is double what they are making now plus they are doing 12 PPV.

So even with a down year on PPV next year they are still gonna do record revenue and if they end up having a huge PPV year with Conor back, maybe Brock, GSP, we'll see about Jones and they have one of those massive PPV years they will do crazy business.

Fertittas probably were ready to be done with the UFC. They already made very much money and probably want to move on.

Wme probably can take the ufc and make much more.

maybe they didn't want to sell but when you get offered 4 billion it im sure made them think harder.

The Fertittas are still way ahead, WME has a long way to go before the investment they made becomes recoups itself and starts turning a profit...

I wish I was conned by getting a 4 billion dollars payday.

Not bad on a down year... so far. Got a couple good PPV coming up. Then maybe the return of Mcgregor. The UFC will raise up and make everybody involved in the deal happy...
