Overeem is only "top 3 HW" because the division is in a horrific state and there have been almost no legit, up and comer contenders to take over the mantle.

The last one who showed promise was Ngannou and he knocked Overeem dead. Now we are stuck with Blaydes and Black Beast as the new contenders which is just hilarious. They both obviously are not championship caliber fighters.

And division with relic throwbacks like Overeem, Hunt, and Werdum as top 10 is in a really bad state.

But you can’t deny the fact that Overeem is the most skilled hw out there

His striking is better than everybody else n he has a solid grappling.

His problem was always gas tank n chin

He would be winning the fight in the beginning, but then gas or just get clipped n finished

After losing to Bigfoot n Browne (fights he was winning n then got finished), he changed his approach n didn’t look for quick ko win. He became “econoreem” n also stop doing weights

Overeem was always an offensive force but I would not concede he is the most skilled at HW at all.

He always had major defensive holes in his standup and was a relative one trick pony on the ground.

I would certainly say someone like Stipe or Cain is far more skilled than Overeem.
