Ubereem to Bellyreem

That’s what happens when you get old after a lifetime of working out AND roiding.

Damn. It's easy to forget prime, roided to the gills Ubereem who was tossing Rogers like a little kid and winning K1 titles. He is a shell of his former self now.

Overeem proves the impact of steroids in MMA better than just about anyone else.

Don’t forget he’s 37 n with previous use his body probably isn’t producing normal level of tes now

Bit of an extreme case, no?

Extreme only because he was allowed to roid freely without the worry of cycling to avoid tests.

He went from a lanky journeyman MMA striker to a beastly K1 champ knockout artist in a few years solely due to roids. Then to a deflated, journeyman shell of his Ubereem self solely due to USADA.

When people deny the impact of roids in the success of people like Anderson and Jones it really looks stupid. If roids can turn a lanky journeyman into one of the most devastating HW KO artists of all time it can certainly give an elite fighter like Bones the edge over a clean elite fighter like Cormier.

Thing is neither Anderson or Jones are devastating KO artists. They didn't win their fights by brutalizing their opponents.
Overeem is one of the most decorated strikers in the UFC - steroids or not.

And just like you said, he was able to juice freely over in Japan and God knows where he fought. An extreme case.

{<huh}

The guy started his mma career at 19 n was killing himself to make lhw.

He also always had issue with gassing

He would start the fight strong, but would fade away in later rounds.

N I like how being top 3 hw = journeyman

They don't need to be devastating strikers as striking power is not the only thing steroids enhance. General strength, cardio, recovery, speed, aggession, etc are all possibly enhanced with the right roids.

Clean Jones and Cormier would be one of the most even, best possible matchups in MMA history. It would've been historic and possibly propelled Jones or DC to the status of widely accepted GOAT. Instead we got coked out, turinabol Jones getting the best of DC, then getting the fight overturned and fucking up any semblance of a fair outcome to that matchup.

You can pretend steroids don't really effect the outcome but fighters would not do them illegally, potentially facing bans and fines unless there was some overwhelming, performance-enchaning positive to using them.

yeah..this was the Hunt fight, where he was confirmed to have been in hospital the morning of the fight with food poisoning but didn't want to pull out

turned up and KTFO Hunt visciously

cut him some slack, it's the worst he's looked physique wise

He's still in good shape for a natural 38 year old or w/e he is now

Thank you, great post.

It should be common sense when we examine Ubereem and Belfort since we don't have any unknowns. Both guys were freely taking steroids and had indisputable career arcs featuring a tremendous rise and fall with the initiation and withdrawal of PEDS.

At this level nearly everyone has excellent skill and training. Certainly Reem and Belfort. The difference when sauced to the gills is an enormous physical advantage over their peers.

Overeem is only "top 3 HW" because the division is in a horrific state and there have been almost no legit, up and comer contenders to take over the mantle.

The last one who showed promise was Ngannou and he knocked Overeem dead. Now we are stuck with Blaydes and Black Beast as the new contenders which is just hilarious. They both obviously are not championship caliber fighters.

And division with relic throwbacks like Overeem, Hunt, and Werdum as top 10 is in a really bad state.
