What exactly is happening to the U.S. military? The U.S. Army in particular.

. A draw down after Iraq and Afghanistan.
. Women in Combat Arms and Ranger school.
. Deserter walks away free with Dishonorable Discharge.
. Gay and transgender serving openly in the ranks.
. West Point no longer following the Honor Code.
. Communist favoring cadet gets commissioned in the Infantry.

Now this, "U.S. Army lifts ban on recruits with mental health history".

"People with a history of 'self-mutilation', bipolar disorder, depression and drug and alcohol abuse can now seek waivers to join the Army under an unannounced policy enacted in August, according to documents obtained by USA TODAY."

"In fiscal year 2017, the active-duty Army recruited nearly 69,000 soldiers, and only 1.9% belonged to what is known as Category Four. That refers to troops who score in the lowest category on military aptitude tests.

They need the numbers. Not much you can do.
Mandatory military service also doesn't work for the offensive nature of the US military. It's not a defensive Army.

Transgenders in the military is catastrophic. These sub humans should not be allowed anywhere near military operations or be able to climb ranks period.

if they're good soldiers, who gives a shit?

most of the mental health history is bullshit imo. im for it.

thats what basic is for is weeding out isnt it?

the commies gays and trannies would be more detrimental to unit cohesion than the average guy with a drinking problem imo.

These are *POLITICAL* decisions. Not popular ones with the members of the military.

I do not know anyone who supports or approves of these changes. They weaken us.

Not going to delve into the other issues, just the mental health one.
Why is this considered problematic? You know there are all kinds of mental health issues. A person having a mental health issue isn't necessarily a psychopath or hears voices or is otherwise going to go nuts and hurt innocent people. There is too much stigma and ignorant perceptions regarding the broad catch-call term "mental health".

do you trust someone diagnosed with mental health to watch your back with a loaded M4 in a high stress envirornment?

do you bet your life on it?

Well, let's us look at a few:

. Shooter - Devin Kelley (U.S. Air Force, 2017)
. Deserter - Private Bergdahl (U.S. Army, 2009)
. Shooter - Major Hasan (U.S. Army, 2009)
. Bomber - Timothy McVeigh (U.S. Army, 1995)
. Shooter - Sergeant Kreutzer (U.S. Army, 1995)
. Murderer - Jeffrey Dahmer (U.S. Army, 1991)
. Shooter - Charles Whitman (U.S. Marines, 1966)
. Shooter - Lee Harvey Oswald (U.S. Marines, 1963)
. Murderer - Adolf Hitler (German Army, 1945) *

This is why it's a bad idea for transgenders and other fruit loops in the military.

Why did you include Hitler?

<{1-10}>

Mental health is a joke in the states for the most part.

It's not taken seriously at all and things like ptsd for our soldiers is growing worse by the year

Why did you include Hitler?

Did he not have a mental health issue while serving in the German Army? I'm focusing on the mental health issue in his case, not the country.

Bipolar or Borderline Personality Disorder alone should keep someone from handling a loaded weapon.

Thread title says US military but you include Hitler.

I'll take him off the list if it will make you happy. :) But he did well in WWI as a Corporal, even got his Iron Cross. That's better than Private Bergdahl.

They can "seek a waiver" and thereby receive an individualized assessment. All this does is preclude categorical bans, which filter out meritorious recruits from armed forces that need all the recruits they can get.

What exactly is wrong with that?

Fake outrage threads sucks.

Well they let Trump supporters serve, can't get much more mentally disordered than that.

You produced nine individuals dating back to the second WW. To be fair the first six go back to 1991 but that's still a time span of over a quarter of a century. Really not the strongest of arguments.
