Tyron talking about fighting in *July*

Woodley is a duck. He was a duck since 18 months before he won the belt. Smarten up, ffs.

Except he knew that he needed the surgery back in September, and he just wasted time and delayed the surgery. That was an intentional move to avoid fighting top contenders.

It gave him a window to take an easy last minute fight like Nate Diaz, which fell through.
He's literally only fought the number 1 contenders and he did it in a short time. He's been the most active champion in the UFC fighting the #1 contenders. He bitches and moans, but he's been fighting only the best for a while. You guys flipped the fuck out when he said he didn't want to fight Wonderboy and Maia, and as soon as there was a fight on the table he signed. Chill the fuck out!

You should have to defend once every 365 days. Stripped on day 366

Agreed. Like, it should be 100% automatic that after 1 year without a defense you are stripped. It doesn't matter if you're injured or not, or if you had another fight in another weight class -- no defense within 1 calendar year = automatic title strip, and another 2 fighters fight for the vacant title.

It's not about the shoulder surgery guys. It's the way he goes about things. Rothwell levels of cringe from this guy. Can't stand him begging for money fights. Money fights are always brought upon by beef, or extraordinary circumstances (late replacements, super fights, real beef), you can't just force them Tyrone.

To top it all off, your style isn't fan friendly. Can't have it all my man, you either fight safe and keep your belt, break some records, and make a champions pay, or you fight more aggressively. The ball has always been in Tyrone's court.

Money fights happen when two elite fighters who wouldn't normally fight eachother are promoted like a special event.

Late replacements make money fights???

Thats retarded. Time and promotion is necessary for the 'money' to be made.

He's the second best current champ in the UFC; if he wants a one-off money fight after fighting 4 #1 ranked opponents back-to-back in a 17 month span, he's earned one.

He wants to be on the annual Independence Day card where his lack of drawing power won't come in the way of him getting PPV points.

Don't bother. These people will do whatever they can to undermine the courage of Woodley.

Tbh, Woodley should campaign for a fight with Covington. It's the easiest matchup for him right now. Covington will def sell it. And on a decent card and with the right promotes can outsell Woodley vs Diaz.

Woodley vs Diaz = 300k - 600k Max (Just because that fight wont have mass appeal & makes no sense.

Woddley vs Covington = 400k - 500k (If promoted right)

Now you tell me which fight is the easier one.
You're making a lot of assumptions. The problem with Woodley and Covington is neither one of them is liked or is a draw. I'm willing to bet that most would just hope for a double KO.

Tyron isn't ducking any top contenders. He's just trying to get his "money" fight. He was willing to fight back in December to save the PPV, but that fell through. He opted to have shoulder surgery and I'm sure that's not something you can bounce right back from.
he has defended and did want a fight. i'm not a fan, but he did offer for December. Should fight a top contender and not Nate though. Shoulder injuries suck, never had needed surgery, but not 100 by any means.

Woodley already had ppv points on UFC 205 & 214. It's August 4th or June 9th for him & RDA.

The international fight week card is shaping up to look like a mega-event. Kinda like the old days. This must be the big 25th aniversary show.

The title fights on that card just seem to keep piling up....

Rumored so far:

TJ vs DJ
Cyborg vs Nunes
Nate vs Woodley

Holy shit! I just realized that Nate would likely headline the card despite being the only non-champion....Thats nuuts....

Tyron is right when he said fans don't give him enough respect on the Joe Rogan Experience. Three title defenses against two top contenders and people are making ridiculous complaints about him. Go look at Micheal Bisping and your boy Conor Mcgregor for real ducking.

That's because he only has one real defense, against Maia. Wonderboy won their first fight, and somehow it was scored a draw. Note this doesn't even count as a title defense -- merely a title retention. Woodley did a good job to win the 5th round in their rematch, but he shouldn't have won the fight. The only judge that actually scored the fight correctly was Sal D'Amato (ironically, since he's had a lot of bad decisions). Woodley-Thompson 2 should have been a draw.

That means Woodley should be 1-1-1 in his last 3 fights. And his fight against Maia wasn't exactly impressive. All he did was stuff Maia's takedowns and land enough shots to win a decision.

Woodley isn't impressive and he doesn't deserve credit or respect until he earns it, which he has not.

Are you crazy? Neither of those fights cross 400k. If they make 350k they should be very very happy.

Nate thinks if he comes back people will watch him. Yes the same ones that were watching him before he fought Conor. The casuals who spiked the Conor cards past 1M don't care to watch Nate fought someone not named Conor.

But he's black. So anything you say against him is racist.

Those things can only be enforced in legitimate sports organizations, not one that's based on twitter followers.

fought 4 #1 ranked fighters in 17 months.

Woodley is the second most active champ. Only DJ has accomplished more out of the current champions.
