Turkey, the Kurds, and Syria(Kurds Reach Afrin Deal with Syrian Government Forces)

Here is a great idea. All foreign nations pull their forces out of the area and let these middle eastern countries settle their issues.

That sounds ideal, but that would fuck over the kurds HARD. They were probably our most reliable ally against ISIS. It would be pretty messed up if we left them hanging.

that is a one bad aspect to it but we should have never been over there to begin with. Maybe we sell them some weapons and other military aids at a discount through some shady arms dealers to help them out.

That tie runs pretty deep. They can't risk ruining that relationship in the region

We sell arms to literally everyone. Under the table and in plain sight

lol, last time i checked it was the turkish border surrounded by enemies of the turks...

And why are they enemies? Perhaps because they have committed genocide against most of them.

What about the other clientele who buys more weapons...i'm sure they'd be ecstatic with those discounts...

Man.. We gotta stop going to war with countries the size of Rhode Island...

Stop arming kurds, become ally with Syria. Even better ally vs ISIS.

I hope Turkey loses that war. They have overwhelming force compared to the YPG but never underestimate middle eastern military incompetence, especially since they won't have america holding their hands and they will probably only commit a small amount of troops to the operation.
According to Wikipedia and the SOHR the fight is pretty even at the moment, Afrin is a mountainous region and the YPG has ample experience fighting in this kind of scenario.

Lol what? Assad is the primary reason all of this shit happened. The civil war began when Assad started killing his own people. That guy is a complete fuckwit.

That might be true that he started it but he is by no means a fuckwit and if you want an ally vs isis, hes better than the kurds for that. You already have the much improved iraqi army that just showed the kurds who is boss.

The legit objection id see to this is that it would antagonize other US allies in the region but if that line of thinking is employed, Iraq and Turkey are much more important allies than the Kurds. Why support people who are separatists in their country?

Turkey's Erdogan vows to fight Kurdish forces as far as Iraq

Turkey is prepared to take its fight against Kurdish forces in northern Syria as far east as Iraq, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said.

Speaking in Ankara, Mr Erdogan reiterated that his forces will move against Kurdish-controlled Manbij, which risks confrontation with the US.

US troops are based in the city, which was taken from the Islamic State group (IS) by Kurdish-led forces in 2016.

Turkey launched its operation against the Kurdish militia last weekend.

Backed by pro-Turkish Syrian rebels, Turkish forces attacked the Kurdish enclave of Afrin with the declared aim of driving out the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG).

'Clean up Manbij'
The Turkish president told a meeting of his AK party that he was prepared to expand so-called Operation Olive Branch "until there is no terrorist on our border leading to Iraq".

He said that after Afrin was cleared, "we will, as promised, clean up Manbij of terrorists".

Manbij lies 100 km (60 miles) east of Afrin in YPG-controlled territory. The mainly Arab city is separated from Afrin by an enclave captured from IS by pro-Turkish rebels in a previous Turkish-led operation in 2016.

The US has had soldiers in Manbij since March 2017, when it dissuaded Turkey from attempting to take the city and got the YPG to agree to withdraw east of the River Euphrates.

@HomerThompson hopefully this will help that thread gain more traction.

Does Turkey manufacture Tank Parts or MBTs themselves? If not it will be a short War, well it may not be that short but it won't be a threat beyond their own region the good ole USA will just blockade the shit out of them.
\
Not unless Germany will side with them again provide Leoppards and some other shit!

Turkey may need to be put in it's place , kick them out of the U.N. and draw a line in the sand ( literaly and figuratively) in Syria and make it clear if they cross it the gloves come off .

And why are they enemies? Perhaps because they have committed genocide against most of them.
so you say they should apologize, go back to sleep and let the US handle it where everyone is satisfied afterwards?
