Trumps favorbility rating dropped 5 points.

only 5? this country has problems

I don't think it can get below about 30%

That's the base number of people who are so incredibly tribal that they'll back him simply for the sole reason that he's on Team Conservative. Oh, and that he's "pissing off the libs."

As long as he keeps delivering zingers, that mouthbreathing 30% will back him up. Did you see how he called CNN "fake news" right to their face again?! Lololol fucking awesome!

I can't say with any real authority of course but I think realistically the swing voters that accounted for Trump's victory are having buyer's remorse and they were never 100% sold on him like the people in the WR (who are a small but vocal minority).

Like the swing voters were BARELY in the Trump court but probably won't take a lot to lose them.

Not to mention these swing votes are extremely small.

Trump got the presidency by 70,000 combined votes in three states. And of course, 3 million less votes nationwide.

He's so wild and unpredictable that anything can be expected of him but his first couple of months are absolutely hideous.

I voted for Trump but he needs to stay off twitter.

You kidding? That's the best part of his presidency - until he gets the brainwave that turning the White House into an actual reality TV show will up his approval rating ;)

I can't watch youtube at work.

I got your back Sherbro. Word for word.."

"Well Donald, the ratings are in... And you go SWAMPED! WOW! Now you're in the thirties? But what do you expect when you take away after school programs from children and meals on wheels from the poor people?

That's not what you call making America great again! Come on!
I mean, who is advising you? Let me give you some advice, go to a middle school, the Heart middle school in Washington, six miles away from the White House. I'll take you there so you can see the fantastic work they're doing for those children. Let's do it!"

Donald Trump is to America what Vince Russo was to WCW.

GWB, Carter and Nixon all got in the 20's. Trump could still get there the fastest, though.

Anecdotal, unsupported response, I give you actual things Trump is doing to scale back the federal government, the *dead opposite* of the Fascist mode of operation. And hell, you even add to the list with his lack of interest in foreign affairs - of course with a caveat that he might one day be fascist there too  I mean, hell, if we're counting things he might do when we decide to call him a fascist, we should really hold him accountable for his death camps - amirite?

I like it how you sort of insinuate that "I probably won't see it that way" just like "Mussolini fans probably didn't see it that way" just subtly dropping in that a girl who has *blasted* Trump here, publicly, and has never actually supported the guy beyond "Ok, he's the president now - maybe we should support him" is some sort of Trump fan. Really dude, you are coming off as so transparently partisan it hurts to watch. Trump is an asshat who is outright bungling a variety of things as he goes along his merry way breaking campaign promises, but he is not showing the signs of being a fascist. Maybe he might, one day, but for now he is taking many steps in the dead opposite direction and your insistence on tying the term to him just shows how we're really willing to apply it to anyone these days, whether they fit the bill or not, in our effort to signal to everyone what a bad guy he is. While we're at it, why not call him a theocrat and a Muslim extremist too? Those make about as much sense. Frankly, it's sad that we're at a point that when someone says "Wait, Trump is a bungling, a promise breaker, and I never supported him when he was running - but can we stick to the things that actually describe him to criticize him with?" a common response is "lol, look at the Trump fan! I bet Mussolini fans just gave him a pass too..."

first of all let me say that i like several things trump is about, or at least pays lipservice to. i like the idea that he wants to renegotiate some trade deals. i like the idea that he claims he is going to make the career politicians live's difficult. there IS a faction of sjw's that have gone a bit nuts (though the number of these people is often exaggerated imo).

i kinda see political labels almost like mental pathologies. for example, there are like 10 symptoms a person may show to be diagnosed with major depressive disorder. you dont need to display all 10 of them, but rather, 7 out of the 10 or something like that.

with that in mind, ill post what i think are very fair traits that define fascism below:

fascism-50-728.jpg

there are at least 5 of these that i would claim arent even arguable....trump absolutely displays these traits. there are probably 5 more that he debatably displays. the fraudulent elections....that remains to be seen if he truly played fair in the election. literally all politicians push boundaries and possibly even cheat in elections, but it is at least plausible at this point that he colluded with a foreign power to help him win....if thats the case, it would truly qualify him for #14 imo, and go beyond what any american politician has ever done as far as we know.

the chart above, imo, leaves out probably the most important characteristic of classic fascism. the idea that a country needs to use its supreme military to expand. as i mentioned earlier, trump at least pays lipservice to wanting to do the opposite, though, so did history's most famous fascists at the outset of their rule. at least for the time being, though, trump isnt showing that important characteristic.

he is also a CLASSIC demagogue, which, all fascists have been. "everything sucks right now, and its THESE people's fault" etc etc. exaggeration and scapegoating. outright lying, though, fascists dont have a monopoly on lying.

Really? So you missed things like scrapping the EPA water rule which granted the Feds huge influence at the expense of state influence? Or his aim to make abortion a State issue - scrapping the Federal government's authority on this major issue? Or rescinding the Federal government's bathroom rule without imposing a new Federal rule - thus limiting another way in which the Federal government told states what to do? Or his approving a hiring freeze for Federal employees, limiting the growth of the Federal government, and thus the manpower it has to go out and influence the country at large? Or his sweeping budgets cuts to Federal agencies which allowed the Feds to influence any number of ways - thus, again, limiting the Federal government's power to influence the people and the States?

I don't know what you've been reading, but some of the things I'm listing are *hugely* publicized right now so it's not like this is some obscure thing you're claiming to have not noticed. The only areas the guy seems to be pushing to bolster are immigration and military related things but, as a general trend, the guy is taking Federal fingers out of a lot of State pies. If you're not seeing this trend, I suspect you're either not looking, or you don't want to see it. Given your post history, and how much people *love* to pin the guy as a Fascist to further their partisan rhetoric, I have a sneaking suspicion as to why you are saying "Golly gee whiz Ehtheist, I've never heard of trump doing THAT!"...

There are quite a few articles out there about it too. Seriously, how have you missed this?

"President Trump’s budget proposal this week would shake the federal government to its core if enacted, culling back numerous programs and expediting a historic contraction of the federal workforce.

This would be the first time the government has executed cuts of this magnitude — and all at once — since the drawdown following World War II, economists and budget analysts said. (…)

According to an economic analysis by Mark Zandi, chief economist for Moody’s Analytics, the reductions outlined so far by Trump’s advisers would reduce employment in the region by 1.8 percent and personal income by 3.5 percent, and lower home prices by 1.9 percent."

https://frontierfreepress.com/president-trump-is-shrinking-the-federal-government/

"President Trump signed a new executive order Monday instructing federal government agencies to cut duplicative and unnecessary programs across the board. The order is intended to "improve the efficiency, effectiveness and accountability of the executive branch."

“This order requires a thorough examination of every executive department and agency to see where money is being wasted, how services can be improved and whether programs are truly serving American citizens,” Trump said at the White House. “Based on this input, we will develop a detailed plan to make the federal government work better, reorganizing, consolidating and eliminating where necessary. In other words, making the federal government more efficient and very, very cost productive. So we’re going to do something, I think, very, very special.”"

https://townhall.com/tipsheet/katie...e-order-to-shrink-federal-government-n2298258

"The executive order does not just ask for modest efficiency gains, but for major cuts:

The proposed plan shall include, as appropriate, recommendations to eliminate unnecessary agencies, components of agencies, and agency programs, and to merge functions.

The plan contemplates a revival of federalism:

In developing the proposed plan … the Director shall consider … whether some or all of the functions of an agency, a component, or a program are appropriate for the Federal Government or would be better left to State or local governments or to the private sector through free enterprise.

As it turns out, the federal budget includes 1,100 aid-to-state programs costing almost $700 billion a year that “would be better left to state and local governments.” As for free enterprise, we could start by weaning farmers off welfare and allowing them to earn a living in the marketplace like the rest of us do."

Fascism's methodology relies on tight government control of many walks of life. Fascists don't enact record breaking cuts of federal workforces and cede federal powers back to constituent states, they go dead the opposite direction. Trump has taken some of the most significant steps of any president in decades to limit the Federal government's control of various walks of life - in fact, scaling it back from previous presidents who, with a phone and a pen, actually did something that creeping into the realm of how a fascist government would solve an issue. As I said above, there are *many* entirely legitimate reasons to criticize Trump but calling him a fascist just seems to miss the mark.

Your smarmy condescension is matched only by your inability to make a concise argument.

I like to think I keep up on current affairs, certainly I've heard of the examples you mention. I'm not sure what you mean by my post history, other than that I am critical of Trump?

I do not believe Trump is fascist, i think it is a mistake to attempt to tie him to a historical precedent. People see fascist tendencies in him and say "fascist!" But that is a gross simplification and incorrect. He has hallmarks of a dime-a-dozen autocrat, and fascist leaders were without fail autocrats. It is a misuse of the transitive property to try to paint Trump as a fascist. So much of Trumponomics is very different from what we've seen in fascist states. I agree, it's silly to paint Trump as fascist from what we've seen.

I simply disagree with your assertion that he is empowering States at the expense of the Federal government. I see an empowerment of corporations at the expense of the Fed, combined with efforts to diminish bureaucracy within much of the government (to the benefit of the private sector). But I don't conflate ostensibly fighting bureaucracy with State's rights.

What we have to judge Trump right now are basically his Executive Orders, his budget proposal, and what he has said in public. You used a few executive orders as evidence.

-Abortion EO; this disallows Federal funding for abortion internationally. How does this empower States at the expense of the Fed? Or diminish Federal power?
-EPA water ruling; read it if you haven't. It cedes no authority nor empowers states but tasks heads of Federal agencies with review and clarification, basically. It's a concession to industry.

Look at the budget proposal. It cuts most agencies that the GOP despise, then gives that money to DHS, the military, and a few others. The net effect is no Federal reduction, just s consolidation in foreign and domestic security apparatus that the GOP loves.

Guess that wasn't concise either.
