Trump wins: NFL Commish Roger Goodell back tracks and now tells owners that players should stand

Now that the NFL backtracked on the anthem kneeling, will the fans return and viewership come back?

I agree that players should stand as they are on the company some and have to play by company rules, but there appears to be a lot of hypocrisy from the free speech crowd here on this topic.

The culture war is drawing to a close and conservatism has won. And this is despite nearly 100% mass media colusion with the alt left.

Real Americans are literally making America great again, just as promised.
Man, you have a really warped view of what making America great means.

Yeah, it had nothing to do with two shit teams playing lmao
Obviously the NFL doesn't think so. That was a division rivalry game with one of the most storied teams, the Chicago Bears. The NFL and Roger Goodell are doing a 180 on their national anthem kneeling.

If you think the Bears / Vikings are a big rating draw, you're misinformed.

NFL players should be allowed to keep protesting, as long as they're willing to take a paycut due to the declining ratings caused by their protest.

I'm saying the Bears have a ton of fans. It's a major city with a huge following. And a rivalry game, in the division. Obviously Goodell's statement today suggests that he did not expect ratings to tank this much.

Gonna be interesting if all the players repeat and kneel this Sunday. What will Goodell and the owners do? Fire everybody?

The stakes just got real. We'll sort out the believers from the posers come this Sunday.

The almighty dollar wins again. You can act like this is a victory for Trump but it's really about money. The NFL doesn't want to hurt it's product and the vast majority of the football watching population has been offended by the protests. I promise the majority of players will not be willing to take a a massive pay-cut in the new CBA due to loss of viewership caused by there protests either. It's all about the almighty dollar.

The tv deal ends after the next cba expiration, its more likely a lock out will damage negotiations for a new tv deal than a new tv deal will be in place for less money at the time they're renegotiating the cba.

So $$$ stop pouring in so nfl changed their tune?

What a bunch of phonies

Some players are not going to care and still kneel. If push comes the shove the players union will back the players against the owners.
If push comes to shove, the players union will back money just like Goodell.

And how does free speech work?

cant find anything on espn.com about goodell's letter. wonder why

A private organization did what it felt best for business; one that has a 50/50 revenue split between owners on labor -- apparently that equates to much oppression!

Is your estimate that the NFL will make less money this year than they did last year?
Owners might make less on ticket sales. Which is immediate.

If ratings go down, advertisement space during commercials becomes less valuable. And the NFL loses money in future years.
