lol you can't make up a statement this stupid. Of course Trump fails to realize that Gaddafi was susceptible to overthrow because he abandoned nuclear development. Just like Saddam abandoned nuclear development only to be overthrown. He's using an example of a guy who was brutally murdered after agreeing to give up his nuclear development for cooperation.....to urge Un to give up his nuclear development towards cooperation.


US President Donald Trump offered North Korea's Kim Jong-un guarantees of staying in power if he abandons nuclear weapons, but warned he could end up like Libya's former leader if he doesn't.

In an effort to put his planned landmark summit with Kim back on track, Trump said on Thursday that North Korea "will get protections that will be very strong" if the meeting were to go ahead successfully.

"He'd be in his country and running his country. His country would be very rich," he told reporters.

But the pledge came barbed with a warning that if talks fail, Kim could suffer the same fate as Libya's Muammar Gaddafi, who was overthrown by rebels and gruesomely killed.

The fate suffered by Libya shows "what will take place if we don't make a deal", the US president warned.

Trump's remarks came as Pyongyang threatened to cancel the historic summit, set for June 12 in Singapore, after blaming US demands for "unilateral nuclear abandonment".

A North Korean official also derided as "absurd" comments by Trump's top security adviser, John Bolton, who referred to Libya as a model for denuclearisation.

The model Bolton was referring to was a 2003 deal in which Gaddafi agreed to the elimination of his country's nuclear programme and chemical weapons arsenal to gain sanctions relief.

Ghaddafi and Saddam both tried to keep their economies socialized. You can't just give up nukes, you have to give up your economy.

If Kim plays ball, he can sell his country and buy the Chicago Bulls. Either that or become fried rice. I'm pretty sure he will play ball.

North Korea doesn't have tribal factions like Libya or Iraq so I don't think it's a fair comparison but that's not the point.

Bolton brought up the Libya model and he is fully aware that North Korea uses Libya as a reason to why they need nukes.

Trump doesn't even fucking know that Libya gave up WMDs for sanction relief.

He thinks the Lybia model was the US deposing Gadaffi because they didn't give up WMDs.

Or at least that's what it appears from his remarks

Did you watch him? He was talking about how we didn't give Gadaffi protection. U are projecting on this big time. You are literally letting your bias think something that wasn't said

this is really weird. Trump actually came off during this Q & A as extremely soft. He talked of even providing Military protection to the North

I've completely come to the realization that there is a small group in the WR who will bash him no matter what.

There are about 5 or 6 posters that will bash him on anything.

And either way it doesn't make sense. He says they'll use the Gadaffi model if Kim doesn't play ball and that's what Bolton meant.

So we're going to make a deal no matter what but if Kim doesn't play ball it will be the Libya model?

That's probably America's single worst action in the 2010's. No apologist for Gaddafi, he was no choir boy, but the way it was handled set a precedent that's going to prevent the US from doing effective diplomacy with "strong-man rulers" for the next 50 years.

Strongman rulers are usually cowards who strive for greater power in order to secure their own lives, in the game that they've (sometimes accidentally) partaken in.

Kim Jong Un, Assad, they're all the same type. If you give them a way out, they're more than willing to take it. But the last thing they want to end up as, is like Gaddafi. Brutally beaten and mugged by a ruthless mob on the streets. That's the nightmare that keeps them awake during the long nights.

That's a sight that's going to remain forever in the minds of modern-day dictators. And not in a good way. It will only encourage them to be more brutal, ruthless, merciless, and to never listen to "peace talks" or diplomacy, or attempts to disarm. All of that's proven to be just horseshit to soften you up before the killing blow.

I find it curious that conservative Americans talk such a big game about disarming their enemies, but then aren't even willing to give up walking around with a fully loaded assault rifle on the streets, because it infringes on their constitutional freedoms. There's a level of hypocrisy there that's just undeniable.

Practise what you preach. Goddamn Americans.

I gave Trump for responding to Assad using chemical weapons.

Outside of that can't think of anything that deserves praise.

He even tucked his dick on infrastructure.

Many were ready to praise him for DACA and gun control but he tucked his dick on those as well lol
