Actually a pretty fair article from cnn, here are some highlights. The deals range from beef to helicopters. The two nations also addressed a more transparent trade partnership. Great economic news all around!!!

President Trump and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, on Thursday announced more than $250 billion in deals between the two countries across industries like energy, technology and aviation.

U.S. energy

China could pour more than $100 billion into U.S. energy projects in the coming years under two of the deals.

One is an $84 billion plan from state-owned China Energy Investment Corp. to invest in shale gas and chemical manufacturing projects in West Virginia. That comes with a couple of caveats, though. It's spread out over 20 years and the deal is only a memorandum of understanding rather than a finalized contract.

Another plan aims to invest as much as $43 billion in Alaska's energy sector. China Petroleum & Chemical Corp., better known as Sinopec (SHI), and the Alaskan government will jointly develop the state's liquified natural gas industry. Alaska says the agreement will create up to 12,000 jobs.

Commercial jets

Boeing (BA) announced it's selling $37 billion worth of airliners to China. It's unclear how many of the orders are new.

U.S. chips for Chinese phones

American chipmaker Qualcomm (QCOM, Tech30) inked $12 billion in non-binding deals to supply components to Chinese smartphone brands Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo.

There was no real detail, and it was non-binding. But at least he's doing something besides overfeeding goldfish. Good job.

^^^ Irreparable butthurt ladies and gentlemen. Never let your jimmies become this rustled.

Not impressed with this. Those deals are chump change China is offering to pacify the US so we won't address the systemic problem of China and Asia at large's merchantilistic policies.

great, that will offset some of the 1.5 trillion hes adding to the deficit

Oh great so Trump and his Nazi buddies get 250 billion more ways to fuck over minorities and people of color and women score america!

Except, they are addressing it. The original trade negotiations from early in the administration detailed the multi step process of making a fairer, more transparent trade relationship.

Are you folks really pretending to not see a difference from this trip, to how they treated obama (being forced to exit the back of his plane)? To pretend that China's behavior can or will change overnight, is just silly.

Sadly, it's becoming difficult to tell the difference between this, and mainstream liberal thought.

So trade with China is a good thing now? great, i support this.

What happened to China being labeled a currency manipulator on day one and steel tariffs?

ive thought this.

the attempts to flatter him him seem very transparent lol.

Of course there's a difference. They gave Obama nothing because he was a complete no-show on protecting the US from bad trade practices. If, as you say, these are just opening steps then I'll be eagerly awaiting the follow up but I'm not doing any kind of end zone celebration just yet.

So from what I've gathered this MOU; which on paper is nothing until there is money put behind it and contracts placed, is for the Chinese to invest in US based projects. What that ultimately means is that Chinese EPC's, like Sinopec will be given first right of refusal for these contracts. This means that Chinese engineering and equipment will more than likely be installed on these projects. The 12,000 jobs that they state are temporary jobs for installation of this equipment and some will be permanent for operations but that is a tiny sliver of the number of jobs. These 12,000 jobs could be a mixture of Chinese and US people and does not mean 12,000 permanent jobs have been created.

Another point is that people were up in arms from the Chinese wanted to buy or invest in US telecom companies. I believe all of this happened under Obama and the right was up in arms because we were handing over sensitive infrastructure to Chinese companies. The same can be said for handing over our energy in oil and gas projects to Chinese companies. So where is the outrage now?

I would be much more impressed if this trade deal meant that US companies would do business inside of China not Chinese companies investing in the US.

To be fair, this is looking like step 2. If you remember they started off with some small but important measures, such as beef imports and changes to financial practices. They stated if it goes well they'll expand on that. Well, it looks like it's expanding.

That being said, it's not like china is going to change overnight, but these steps are promising.

How is this in anyway good? China would profiteer off our natural resources and commodities, further enriching some Chinese tycoons and increasing their financial footprint in the US, and all we get are some jobs? Getting to say you created a few thousand jobs but have to surrender some of our national sovereignty, and our natural resources, is not worth it.

Why not develop the industry with a favorable package to an American company, or with a public owned cooperative that shares the profit? Wasn’t Trump going to MAGA by improving our infrastructure?

This “deal” is smoke and mirrors. Non-binding this and “memorandum of understanding” that. It’s complete fluff, just like our so-called President.

China's got money to spare. It's got the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank which will be pivotal to developing many third world nations and is a good alternative to the World Bank. The resurrection of the Silk Road is also a great idea. While China is diversifying and expanding, the U.S. is stagnating and contracting.

200 billion over 20 years? so 10 billion a year? Our trade deficit last year was 347 billion. This looks like it will widen that gap.

Absolutely. China profiteering off our labor and our natural resources, within our borders, is not acceptable.
Gunny mentioned that this “deal” failed to address Chinese mercantilism. It’s more than that, it expands it IMO.
