Trump drops Amazon's stock price by $5.7 billion with one tweet

It's bringing crap jobs that replace good jobs, nothing to cheer about. Those jobs will be revolving doors because they won't support a family even with full time and the shit benefits

Its retail jobs being killed and fewer but more advanced tech jobs being created.
Creative destruction.

Retailers are not gonna out live portals like Amazon. In fact it will be the other way around.

WOW isn't a president supposed to help businesses not devalue them? And some of you guys are celebrating? He aso levelled accusation at Merck too. First time I heard people celebrating that a president is devaluing a business. Could you truymptards possibly consider that maybe Trump is not acting very presidential?

I'm sure you were swimming in a pool of cash as you typed that, and not mainlining Mountain Dew and Doritos, and jacking off to Antifa videos.

Your side can do nothing but lose. That's what happens to losers.

my posts in the war room are usually in support of the right. My comment did not support either side, just called out a child talking about something he obviously doesn't understand.

Try again.

Fuck yeah, I love Presidents who act like a 13 year old petty teenage girl.
Blotus is supposed to be building the economy not tanking it, because Bezos is not some trust fund baby, whose Daddy had to purposely lose millions in his casinos to keep him afloat. If Fred did not cream pie, Donald's mom, Donald would not have been rich.
Bezos is self made, which drives the Fat Bastard nuts.

Is blotus a reference to Brutus from Popeyes? or does it mean Bloated President of the USA?

It means fat president. Trump is fat and bloated, hence Blotus. It is a play on the term Potus. ( President of the United States)

But coal jobs are good? I guess dying of Black Lung is a better job benefit.

But what exactly will people be able to do "more "of when they have no jobs or income? How will they meet basic needs? Some kind of universal basic welfare income? And while people do compare the transition from horse and buggy to car as somewhat comparable to what is happenimg now, i think that earth has never seen the AI revolution that is surely coming. Not everybody is capable of having a job related to tech and lets face it, those will be the majority of the jobs in the world in the future , sooner or later. I admire your positivity though and wish I could be so optimistic of the future.

The only issue is how fast these things are occurring. Like my previous post said, the labor displacement is short term as the economy finds new work as well as the government finding new adjustments for the safety net. It works out well in the long term.

There are still a lot of things for humanity to solve before we can pretend we are done with labor. Healthcare definitely would be one that doesn't seem to be solved yet for many sick people.

ah I knew it just sounds so funny I always get a kick out of it when see you post that haha

I'm sure there were more factors than just a tweet.

You're a silly person. Amazon destroys far more jobs than it creates.

Pretty sure this is false, online retail in general is generating more jobs in customer service and warehousing than we're losing in brick and mortar retail.

What he says is not really wrong but its not going to change. Amazon isn't going anywhere. I personally never shop local anymore. I find it hard to believe I'm the only one.

Golden one is just taking a side in the impending Walmart v Amazon war.

Its all good, till they piss him off.

It's doesn't even seem likely the Tweet proved to be a factor at all. Trump made his anti-Amazon tweet (one of dozens he has made over the past year while its stock has continued to soar) at 3:12 AM on August 16th, and if you study the intraday chart, it went up after that until noon before going back down about as far as it came up over the course of the rest of the day.

Oh, and lest we forget:

Trump has previously criticized Bezos on a number of occasions, with the pair trading barbs throughout Trump’s election campaign. Trump later described the Post as The Amazon Washington Post and lashed out at the CEO for stories run by the paper.

“The Amazon Washington Post fabricated the facts on my ending massive, dangerous, and wasteful payments to Syrian rebels fighting Assad,” Trump wrote on July 24 on Twitter.

“So many stories about me in the ‪@washingtonpost are Fake News. They are as bad as ratings challenged ‪@CNN. Lobbyist for Amazon and taxes?” he added.

Trump himself has come under fire over a tax issue, refusing to turn over his tax returns during the election campaign and since then. He has declared that avoiding paying federal taxes for 18 years makes him “smart.”
Seems to me that Trump is just upset that Bezos is a whole lot smarter than him: about $81bn smarter, and minus the running start.

Through what, competition? That is capitalism.

Through avoiding local and state sales tax laws among other things. That was what trump was talking about. I'm no fan of taxes, mind you, but I'm really no fan of a system that allows a large multinational to skate around the rules to the detriment of local businesses. You should feel that way too.
