Good day! A friend from track decided he wanted to start learning Olympic lifting, and I think he'll be sticking to it. I had him start with the snatch, and do about 50 reps with the bar, then some heavy front squats. Seemed like a good first day.

Snatches felt good today, I focused on diving under the bar. Just need to combine that with some stability in the bottom...

MEET DAY -- St. Louis Invitational hosted by Lift For Life Gym
Snatch
Lift 1: FAILx82 -- was just a tiny bit too far forward. I caught it at the bottom, and dropped it when I tried to rise.
Lift 2: 82 -- a bit unstable, but better than the first
Lift 3: 84 (+4kg meet PR) -- this felt great, if I had a fourth attempt I'm sure I could have got 86. I went into the lift knowing I had already hit one, and decided to dive under as fast as possible and just hope I could catch it. Worked well
Clean and Jerk
Lift 1: 107 -- did not catch the jerk with arms locked out, but i was able to get the lift as i did not press out afterwards
Lift 2: 110 -- again, i perfected the art of the bent arm jerk, and got 3 white lights
Lift 3: 113 (+3kg alltime/meet PR) -- this jerk I actually caught with nice straight arms. Felt heavy, but good
So overall I think this meet went wonderfully! The best part about it was that I was competing for most total weight lifted with a NINTH GRADER. This kid was half my height, weighed a mere 130lbs, and tied me (he hit an 85kg snatch and 112kg clean and jerk). His form and raw strength were amazing. Fucking incredible!
