Cruz never came close to mind fucking his opponents the way Conor did, and we're not talking noobs either, we're talking the Underground King and Scarface, veterans who are as credentialed as they come in MMA.

So, based on demonstrable effectiveness: Conor and it's not even close.

What is Cruz even gonna say? There are no points he can make against McGregor that McGregor can't easily refute. If he brings up his submission loss to Diaz, he'll just explain that that was the third highest weight class he's ever competed at (and on short notice as well), which is something Cruz has never done. He could also remind everyone that he won the rematch a few months later. The loss to Mayweather? Getting tooled by arguably the P4P greatest boxer in history isn't something to be ashamed of. It's certainly much better than getting tooled in your own sport by a guy who has only ten fights to his name (Cody Garbrandt.)

Conor subliminally gets into his opponents heads.

Cruz is too smart that a lot of his opponents dont fully understand his passive insults. Cruz trashtalking Diaz would be comedy gold for this exact reason. Diaz even didn't understand half the insults Conor threw at him.

If you understand what Cruz says, you'll agree he's winning. If you have no idea what he's saying, then you'll consider Conor the winner simply because he yells same things over and over again. Conor (or someone writing for him) comes up with some clever-ish one-liner and Conor then repeatedly screams it all over the place. That's his trash talk. Cruz actually says things.

The way I see it Conor mostly says things that any other fighter can say like I'll knock you out and such. Don't get me wrong every now and then he says something unique but Cruz says things that no other fighter can say and he backs it up with evidence.

Well, gee, this is hard...one guy is and his persona is internationally recognised, a large part of it down to his trash talk, whereas the other has been around longer, been a long term champ and yet still gets nowhere near the numbers of the other one...

Cruz is a smart and interesting guy but his ‘trash talking’ is extremely overrated on sherdogger.
