training for fight rest period

wondering if this sounds right. strength coach wants me to train 2 min rounds take 5 mins to recover. i am only doing 12 rounds . the next week was 2 min rounds 3 min break. the following week was again 2 minute rounds till heart beat got down to rest which he says was 140. i fight 3 5 minutes rounds .
 
How far out from the fight are you? Sounds a bit off, but we need more details. How hard is he making you work in your rounds? Are you sparring these rounds or weight training/training energy systems?
 
i am two weeks out > i am working full intensity these rounds are typically heavybag and pad work.
