Going knowingly into a fight with a highly infectious potentially deadly diseases that hospitalizes and kills people as well as leaving life long scars is the most disrespectful thing possible in MMA except for maybe going in with hepatitis (which happens).

This is utterly shady and unacceptable.

This is what happened with Mark Hunt

Lee knew he was sick. The UFC docs should have been able to recognize staph if a Sherdogger can. Fight should have been called off or changed.

There is criminal and civil liability here. Same as if Lee attacked Tony with a hep infected needle.

Tony had minutes to notice Lee had staph and what was he supposed to do? Say he wasn't going to fight because his opponent obviously had staph despite being cleared by the docs and AC (hell sue them as well)?

He should sue anyway regardless of whether he actually gets staph or not. If you're behind the wheel with alcohol and police pulls you over, they aren't gonna say 'well, you didn't hit anyone, so no problem here'.

Mark Hunt and Tony Ferguson, both in shades, mumbling some weird things, successfully suing UFC for millions of dollars will be glorious.

Agree he should sue UFC staff.

When Rogan called Lee's staph out pre-fight, and with El Cucuy's awkwardness, I did seriously wonder what would've happened if at the staredown, after Dean asked both fighters if they had any questions, Ferguson would've asked, "Yeah—what's that on his chest?" Leading to the main event getting canceled, LOL.

Can we all just stop being whiny bitches please

that's like...super advanced martial arts: biological warfare.

When you make 500k for one fight you don't piss off your employer.

Everyone knew, Tony included. I’d fight a guy with staph for 500k and a world title. Risk was worth the reward.

This thread was done already, and this one is just as shitty.

Staph is no longer contagious after 48 hours of treatment with antibiotics. I'm sure the doctors in charge probably knew and understand that and made him provide proof that he'd been receiving care prior to letting him fight.

Yeah, it’s unbelievable that fans of such a violent sport whine as much as they do...

“But, but he should sue!!!!!”
“But, but he said he was going to try to injure him in the fight!!! That’s not professional!!!! Bruce Lee would’ve never said that!!!!!!!”
etc.

I am with you, problem is, he is the champ, he will finally make some serious money, i am not sure, this is the right time to be in bad terms with the ufc. He should fight mcgregor, and defend the belt once or twice to be set moneywise and then he can sue them

Yeah, he should totally sue the UFC for at least like 12 billion dollars ...Or he could just take antibiotics for prophylactic purposes and be perfectly fine.

Tony was basically fighting an infected zombie in there. El Cucuy > zombie WOOOOOOOO!

I had staph once but not as bad as guys like Big Nog where it takes a chunk out of your skin

Luckily the antibiotics took care of it before it could get bad

But it's just a nasty infection

And W T F is the UFC doing letting Kevin fight like this? Terrible

This card was cursed from the beginning
