Interview in a Brazilian website 02/02/2017:

http://globoesporte.globo.com/rj/se...-afirma-ter-procura-do-rizin-para-voltar.html

>Says he´s comin´back.

>Trains every day in his own house where he built a facility. Still trains with Paulo Filho

> Comeback delayed coz of naggin´injuries.

> Hopes he can come back in 2018

> Not bothered by his age ["Randy´s an inspiration"]

> Still follows the big events, only them

> Thinks that current Champs like JBJ or McNug are no longer 'samurais', no longer have the same sense of honor compared to his era, all about money & media.

> In his weight class: fighters are stronger because bigger since they´re cuttin´a lot of weight, but technically, his era was better.
When he´ll come back, wont cut weight, and will fight @ LHW.
He´s against weight cuttin´

> Received offers from : UFC, Bellator too, but especially Rizin, always in contact with him.

> About his controversial loss vs Fedor:
Believes he won: the rule prohibiting punches to the face on the ground helped Fedor more than him, since he got the mount several times during the fight.
Furthermore, he got several TDs, was good on the feet...

Says that the Org was interested in having Fedor winning:
they wanted a Japanese in the final, and because Fedor was badly cut during the fight against him, he had to withdraw from the next fight against this Japanese.
On a sidenote, says that from what he experienced, no fixed fights like this one in Pride.

In today's UFC LHW division, Arona probably runs through most of the ten top.

I highly doubt he could beat anyone in the top 5. When he fought he always would hold his chin up high instead of tucking it. If he hasn't improved his stand up or still holds his chin up he's getting KO'd.

imagine him in their panic wrestling against someone like volkan lol

no way hes top 10 now even as bad at LHW is. hes been inactive and is old now. even in his prime he couldnt be the champ currently.

The only comeback we'll get is another interview in 2020 about his comeback.

Hmmmm, learn to keep your chin tucked so mid-level ufc 205ers don’t box you up.....,,or keep surfing and banging 10s...,.

His grappling would definitely still hang at any level. Would be fun to see a Bellator return.

One of the scariest and best looking fighters at the same time

Rockhold but waaay more intimidating and primal. He was like a grappling version of Paulo Costa

Hopefully we can see him in Rizin

At this rate we're still going to expect Aronas return when he's in the retirement home.

Why are you posting article from Feb of 2017.

Arona will never come back. Ever since he left he has always said hopefully next year.

Be interested in seeing how he'd do now. I assume, not well.
