This is a really good fight.
I wish we ESPN in Canada.
You can't download ESPN app or stream?
That's a fucking fight right there
Is ESPN+1 going to be like UFC on Fox 1? With the cejudo/dilly fight being moved to ESPN it seems like they are trying to make a big splash. This is a good addition to the card, both these guys bring it!
I had super high hopes for Almeida. I know he’s still very young but he needs a W bad. I think he gets it done here.
Nice. Will watch.
sandhagen is nasty. think he ko’s mr. almeida
He looked like an angry engine of death before he fought Cody. He was killing guys with elbows, knees, fists, everything.
I wasn't sold on him at all especially after clearly losing the first round vs Pickett before the death knee and his best win is still Pickett. His level of competition was mediocre.Guys awesome and could still be a force but man people were really overrating him and I was saying it before his losses. We see big prospects fall all the time after stepping up.This fights sick though and we should learn a lot about both guys.
Sandhagen can take a ton of punishment, Thominhas can't, at least not anymore, so i'm going with Sandhagen.
The whole ESPN vs ESPN+ shit is confusing.
Some events are going to be ESPN+ streaming service only (trying to attract cord cutters) but some of the events are going to be on the actual channel ESPN which defeats the purpose of having a cord cutting option if you still need ESPN channel to watch 10 high profile events a year.......
You have better foresight than I do. I thought he looked very creative and aggressive with his striking, and that by riding on those attributes, he'd be able to break into title contention.
Potential for a war right here.
He leaves a lot of openings and his boxing is medicore - tailor made for Cody. I think he still has potential though. His striking is very creative like you said and he puts together awesome fight finishing combinations.
Oh no not at all,I thought he had huge potential I just couldn't get down with the for sure next champ crap until he fought someone good (not that I would ever say that),as I am with almost all big prospects and even at the end of his career Pickett handled him in the first.Last time I felt like a prospect would definitely be in the title mix before he fought anyone real good was Brandon Thatch and we all know how that worked out.I also said I thought it was a mistake for Whittaker to move up to 185 cause he'd be too small. On the flip side I was adamant about Overeem never touching UFC gold because you can't change a chin and heart.
Were all wrong/right in mma all the time which is one of the reasons I can't access someone's full skill set until they fight legit competition some people rise to the occasion and some people fold or don't fight their best which seems to be the case for Almeida for now.Adesanya could end up having huge problems with a good wrestler/grappler (one that doesn't look terrified and fight like their drunk).Maybe he totally suck on the ground.I have seen hundreds of prospects rise and fall in the last 25 years,I just find it annoying with the next champ/future goat talk about a different fighter each month.Hell Papy Abedi was a "future champ" here on Sherdog for a while.
I swear I read Corey Sandbagging
Man its insane how brutal a sport MMA is. In boxing you usually get fed bums until you are 30-0 or better so its easier to keep your record pretty. When Almeida went into the Cody fight he was red hot. Looked like he was going to be the new Barao(ultra long win streak) and then Cody flatlined him, and he followed in Baraos footsteps picking up loss after loss......1 win in his last what, 4 fights? oof..
if he had a better chin he would be unbeatable. his defense just lacks too much to get by with a less than stellar chin
